  • With its Lifebook P772, Fujitsu sets up a solid subnotebook to the greatest extent. Although our test reveals one or two shortcomings, the overall bundle is quite decent.

  • The new Samsung Series 5 Chromebook 550 (XE550C22-H01) laptop is a speedy 3G-equipped portable Web terminal. It works well in that regard, but there are other netbooks and even ultraportables that do more for less money.

  • The Samsung Chromebook Series 5 550 offers an improved cloud-computing experience inside a slick and comfortable design, but it's too pricey given its limited functionality.

  • Rating Unavailable

Though Chrome OS has come a long way, this particular device has disappointing battery life and feels slightly overpriced given what it can do.

  • The 12-inch Samsung NC20 holds its own in the first Netbook showdown between Via's new Nano CPU and Intel's popular Atom.

  • Rating Unavailable

    - The sliding function of the surface of the touchpad is good.
    - The performance of the hardware in comparison to the many atom systems in the market is interesting.

  • Rating Unavailable

    - Business notebooks in the 12-inch form factor have been able to incorporate completely full-size keyboards, but they are generally higher priced.
    - Individual key action is smooth with no sound emitted when clicked.

  • - Lenovo's X200 tablet series has long been popular with road warriors and tablet enthusiasts because of its light weight, long battery life, and durable design.

  • - The screen is bright and crisp, though default font sizes in some apps and Web sites are a touch small on a panel this size.
    - The X201's 12.1-inch display is LED-backlit and features a robust native resolution of 1,280x800.

  • Rating Unavailable

    - The capacitive display was extremely responsive to our light finger taps and familiar multitouch gestures like two finger scrolling and pinching to zoom.

  • - Compared to other consumer level notebooks on the market, it is midpriced at around $1,370.
    - The 17.3 inch widescreen has a native resolution of 1600 x 900, which is better than most laptops.

  • - Colors are bold and video plays smoothly, and the panel's wide viewing angle performance means you can watch videos with friends without experiencing color shifting or a darkened screen.
    - The embedded Altec Lansing speakers deliver good mid and high tones and are reasonably loud but not very deep when it comes to bass response.

  • - The touchpad is slick and easy to use with great responsiveness, and likewise, the keyboard (which includes a number pad) has excellent spacing and travel characteristics.
    - Things were much happier on the 3DMark front, where the DV7 romped in with a 3DMark score of 4,583, meaning that this is a very solid multimedia contender.
