  • While the screen could be better, the Acer Iconia W3-810 offers a full Windows 8 experience, Microsft Office and long battery life in a portable 8-inch package.

  • The smaller 8-inch Windows 8 tablet is a form worth exploring, and the Acer Iconia W3 can be fun to use, but it's also buggy and held back by shortcuts and lackluster features.

  • The overall performance of the small Iconia is very good. It offers long battery runtimes, has a decent build quality and can execute x86 applications. The CPU performance is not overwhelming but sufficient for tablet applications and simple x86 applications. Acer had to make some cuts to achieve the low price of 329 Euros (~$433), especially the bad viewing angle stability of the display is not up-to-date anymore. The 32 GB storage is also too small, we recommend the 64 GB version.

  • The Acer Iconia W510-1422 goes all day long and most of the night, with a highly portable design, and a docking keyboard that lets you choose between laptop and tablet.

  • The Acer Iconia W510 offers very long battery life and a useful keyboard dock, making this Windows 8 tablet-notebook hybrid a solid but somewhat pricey choice.

  • The 10-inch Acer Iconia W510 comes very close to being our favourite Windows 8 convertible tablet/laptop with Atom inside. It's smaller and lighter than 11.6-inch rivals, but doesn't compromise on resolution, connectivity or battery life to get there. It also sports a unique (at least for a detachable convertible) rotating hinge that genuinely expands it usability, while its screen and speakers more than hold their own.

  • The $999 Acer Iconia W700-6465 is gorgeous and fast, but this 11-inch tablet costs a pretty penny.

  • The Acer Iconia W700 is not a bad product, but it makes more promises than it keeps. It's neither a great tablet, nor a great laptop replacement as its battery life is too short and the supplied accessories too cumbersome. The only genuine bright spot is the screen, but it's not enough on its own to convince us.

  • The Acer Iconia W700 comes the closest of all the tablets we've seen to being able to replicate the experience of a laptop, in a true tablet form.

While you certainly get a lot for your money here, we worry that the poor performance limits the life of this hybrid PC, and would push those looking for a rich Windows 8 experience to look at the Intel Core i5 version.
