  • The latest iPod Touch is the best iPod ever, and as close to a phoneless iPhone 5 as you can get -- but its high price makes it a tough call versus cheaper tablets with larger screens.

  • There's a new iPod touch on the block and, in many of the ways that most matter, it's a doozy. While it's tempting to compare it to a phone-less iPhone 5-particularly given its similar height, weight, thickness, and Lightning connector-the iPod touch is a device intended for a different audience. An audience that skews younger than the iPhone's and one that desires a cool media and game player that can stand on its own rather than feel like an iPhone's hobbled sibling. And for this reason, a comparison to the fourth-generation (4G) iPod touch is more apt.

  • When it comes to a device to play music and video, you can't really ask for more than the iPod touch delivers. This is the best screen on any media device of its size, there's decent storage capacity on both models and the graphical power means this can play games that look as impressive as any handheld games console. It's a bit of a clich, but the iPod touch really is a fantastic little gadget.

  • The Cowon X9 is the latest portable MP3 and video player from the Korean audio brand. However, in some respects it feels like a step back when compared with older models. Its touchscreen is resistive, its display low-res and it doesn't have the storage to justify the bulky design. Cowon needs to get with the times, or it'll soon be game over.

  • The Cowon X9 is available in three variants - 8GB, priced at Rs. 11,999, 16GB at Rs. 13,200 and 32GB priced at Rs. 15,500. Those prices simply do not justify the devices capabilities. With 7-inch tablets available for much less with features such as HDMI out plus full HD video palyback, the Cowon X9 with it's ridiculously high battery capacity and even it's onboard storage doesn't stand a chance.

  • The iPod Touch is the best iPod yet, offering all the fun of the iPhone experience without a carrier contract or monthly bill.

  • The new iPod Touch is the best dedicated music player that Apple has released to date. The 'Retina' display, iOS4 and the faster processor mean that listening to music, playing games and surfing the Web are easier and more enjoyable than with its predecessors.

  • The iPod touch is the best iPod yet, offering all the fun of the iPhone experience without a carrier contract or monthly bill.

  • Apple's fourth-generation iPod delivers notable improvements to an already excellent product--and at a lower price.

  • Apple's slimmed-down, slicker-than-ever iPod nano responds to your movements, creates playlists it thinks you'll like, and makes the competition look like a bunch of clunkers.

  • Compelling, extremely versatile device is almost a full-fledged iPhone.

  • The iRiver S100 is a slim, stylish and well-made media player that's technically future-proofed thanks to its inclusion of DAB support. However, a very patchy interface and real-world DAB performance that's miles away from what you'd get with a home set costing half the price it's not the cutting-edge radio solution we've been hoping for. Not enough has improved since 2005.
