  • The addition of the versatile vari-angle screen, a dedicated command dial, enhanced GPS tracking and NFC connectivity make the new Coolpix S9900 Nikon's best travel-zoom camera yet, although it doesn't make any great strides forwards in terms of image quality or general performance.

    - Not so good are the remote shooting features which remain very basic.
    - The COOLPIX S9900 also adds NFC for easier Wifi connections, allowing you to intitiate wireless transfers and remote control by gently tapping your smartphone against the camera body.

  • The Nikon S9900 offers a very long zoom range in a surprisingly compact body, but there's no overcoming the limitations of the small sensor, and the image quality isn't great – you can't shoot raw files, either.

  • With Wi-Fi, GPS, and an OLED display, the Nikon Coolpix AW120 is one of the better rugged compact cameras you can buy, but it's not quite an Editors' Choice.

  • So should you buy a Nikon Coolpix AW120? As far as its features go, it’s up there with the best cameras in the toughened compact class. Its GPS geotagging and world map navigation are useful for the aspiring adventurer, as is the compass, altimeter and depth gauge. The AW120’s Wi-Fi capability is a little more limited, but nonetheless a welcome inclusion.

  • A good compact camera with plenty of features, but only really worth the price if you need its waterproof, shockproof qualities.

  • There's been some worry recently and murmurings of smart devices taking over from cameras and compact cameras disappearing entirely. It seems that cameras such as the Nikon Coolpix S810C are designed to give you the feature-set of a smart device with the better image quality of a phone or tablet. It works too, Nikon have given the camera a fantastic sensor and noise reduction facility. It really does help to demonstrate why a larger sensor is better.

  • As soon as we started shooting with the Nikon Coolpix S5300, we could see what the image quality was going to be like. The pictures look very over sharpened on the screen, but aren't as bad when viewed on a screen. Saying that, they are still sharper than we prefer, but this completely personal choice. The slim design is perfect for slipping into a pocket while not in use.
The Nikon Coolpix S5300 is a breeze to use with many features either close at hand or very easy to find.

  • The Nikon Coolpix S32 is so easy to use that it's easy to become a little lackadaisical in your attitude to photography while using it. Saying that, it's not really a camera designed for the keen photographer. The S32 is a camera that's intended to be used by a point and shoot family. The happy snappers that wish to go abroad with a camera and not worry if it gets dropped in the pool or if the kids knock it off a table.
Still, it does have limitations, such as the 3x optical zoom.

  • The Coolpix S32 is a fun camera for the whole family that takes pretty okay pictures. Nikon stepped things up compared to the previous models by adding a 13 Mpx CMOS sensor and Full HD video. A low price is one of its main selling points, and it actually has an advantage over more traditional compacts: it's waterproof!.
