  • With or without its new Fusion hybrid drive, Apple finally has a Mac Mini that competes well against mainstream Windows PCs in the same price range.

  • The new Mac mini continues to build on the solid foundation set by the 2011 model. If you prefer a Mac desktop computer to a laptop, and/or you don't want to be confined to the glossy 21.5- or 27-inch displays that come with the iMac, the Mac mini is a capable system for most tasks. The quad-core Core i7 processor and the larger storage capacity make the £679-799 Mac mini more attractive - plus you £200.

  • This model is expensive, but generally the Mini is pretty sound.

  • For anyone who needs a computer system with a dedicated graphics system either for gaming or graphics work, the Cyberpower Gamer Ultra 2073 is a tough deal to beat. For under $500, it comes with an AMD 5450 graphics card with a full 1GB of memory. The system also comes free of bloatware many companies add to the OS. There are minor issues with it though including no media card reader and the lack of customization that Cyberpower typically offers through their direct sales because this is a retail system.

  • The CyberPower Ultra HTPC is an all-round system with clean, tidy looks and a Blu-ray writer that may prove useful. Sadly it's also far from quiet and only standard-definition TV facilities are included, although its AMD processor gives it a decent boost in 3D graphics performance allowing it to double up as a gaming PC.

  • While not as much of a bargain as the previous CyberPower system that came through our labs, the Gamer Ultra Perseus presents good value for a well-built, water-cooled and pre-overclocked AM3 system. However, though the water cooling is quieter than a conventional air cooler it still isn't truly silent, and if you actually want the best bang for your buck when it comes to gaming performance you'd be better off dropping the water cooling for a second graphics card.

  • The HP Pavilion p6-2100 is certainly not going to be winning any speed contests among budget desktop systems but with its street price near $400 it does provide a decent experience for anyone that is looking to get a basic desktop PC. Just be warned that a number of features such as peripheral connectors are dropped to help keep the prices down. This makes it more difficult to upgrade the system either internally or externally than competing desktops that cost just a bit more.

The HP Pavilion p6-2350 review is a good buy for people that wants a good solid desktop computer that will give them years of service. With a big and reputable company like HP, you know that they have a quality product.

  • The HP Pavilion p6-2100 desktop is an excellent setup for an entry-level system. It has plenty of power for your daily activities and if you do not wish to invest tons of money into it, it the perfect choice. Be it office or multimedia, the HP Pavilion p6-2100 desktop will handle the task you give it. The fact that it also packs plenty of expansion ports, gives it good upgrade capabilities and components are not expensive at all. Even some casual gaming can take place and my issues with the setup are small to say the least.

  • The Lenovo H520s desktop PC combines decent performance and value into a compact chassis, though there are similarly priced alternatives with more forward-looking hardware available.

  • The slim H520s may be considered part of Lenovo's Essential lineup of computers but it is a very capable system when it is properly configured. With a quad core processor, dedicated graphics and Blu-ray drive it certainly performs very quickly and has features other mainstream slim desktop lack. There are a number of drawbacks though including the lack of wireless networking and just 8GB of memory. Still, if you want a high performance small desktop, it is hard to find one similarly equipped these days.

  • Lenovo continues to make strides in the slim desktop PC category with the IdeaCentre H520s. It combines a slim space-saving design with ease of use and a range of entertainment features. It features an Intel Core i5 CPU, 6GB of RAM, built-in wireless connectivity and a 1TB hard drive. The slim design does limit future expansion, but it comes with everything most users will need.

  • The Acer Aspire AME600-UR378's solid hardware, decent expandability, and reasonable price tag helps set the bar for what we expect from mainstream multimedia desktops in a Windows 8 world.

  • The processing speed, memory and storage are rather impressive, but the graphics chip and customer support may leave you wanting.

Great price for a great computer, this is an excellent machine fast, beautiful display. It's attractive and very functional. . So, this Acer AME600-UR378 is low priced, but high powered, at least for what I need it to do. I did comparison shopping both online and at places like Best Buy, Office Max, and Office Depot before choosing and buying this desktop. It was at a great price!
