  • The Fujifilm FinePix XP80 is a good all round compact camera, which is ideal if you’re the type of person who likes to go on adventure holidays - or, alternatively if you’re just looking for something which will be able to withstand average family life.
Although picture quality may not be quite as high as some cameras without such rugged credentials, for a holiday or family camera, it’s still pretty good and you should be pleased with what it can produce.

The FinePix XP80 from Fujifilm is a nice point-n-shoot camera that will work well for the beginning photographer seeking waterproof capabilities in a simplistic model. This camera's images are surprisingly sharp for such a basic camera with a small image sensor. Another pleasing surprise is that the XP80 has very little shutter lag when the lighting conditions are good. However, color representation and exposure are a little off with the XP80.

  • The Fujfilm XP80 offers affordable durability in a compact package.
ISO 6400 (reduced file size). The Fujifilm XP80 is excellent for shooting right in the middle of the action. The 10 fps burst speed is among the best for the category. The video capabilities and wide range of mounting options makes it a good choice for mounting on a bike, surfboard, or whatever else you can imagine. It's not a good option for shooting indoors, however.

  • The Fujifilm FinePix XP70 may cost as little has half the price of some tough compact cameras, but it’s far from half the camera. Its 10-metre waterproof rating can’t quite match the subaquatic abilities of cameras like the Nikon AW120 or Ricoh WG-4, but if you’re only likely to photograph a spot of snorkelling, that’s hardly a deal-breaker.

  • In summary the Nikon Coolpix S8200 improves a couple of major features and adds a few new functions to further improve on a camera that we already liked a lot. Unfortunately it still has some key deficiencies, most notably the so-so image quality especially at the higher ISO speeds, the frustrating need to access the main menu for commonly used options like ISO speed, and the lack of any manual controls for more advanced users.

  • That said, while the similarly priced Nikon L820 features a smaller build and a much higher resolution screen, coupled with comparable features, you'll struggle to find a similar model with the same zoom range as the Fuji S8200.

  • The Fujifilm FinePix S8200 is typical of many bridge cameras on the market. You get loads of useful features which make using the camera a similar experience to a DSLR. Highlights include 10 fps continuous shooting, good battery life, the electronic viewfinder and full manual controls. The downside is that image quality isn't the best you'll get on a camera though, but for those who like to share pictures on sites such as Facebook, this isn't really a big issue for many users.

  • Cameras with Wi-Fi tend to be significantly more expensive than those with similar specs and no Wi-Fi, given the Fujifilm FinePix S8400W has a 44x optical zoom lens, the £239.99 price tag looks extremely fair. There are loads of other features for the aspiring photographer to enjoy, it's ideal for someone who wants to step up their photography but doesn't want the burden of an expensive DSLR and a kit bag of lenses.

  • The Fujifilm FinePix S4800 will appeal to those who are on a budget, but want a versatile camera that has plenty of zoom and full manual controls. This is ideal for those who want to test their photographic skills without the investment required for a DSLR. The battery has a decent life and image quality is respectable given the cameras price. What you don't get is a viewfinder which is useful for a camera with so much zoom and continuous shooting is quite slow. Overall, the S4800 offers plenty for its price tag.
