  • The TomTom VIA 1605TM is a top-notch budget GPS device, thanks to its sharp 6-inch screen, solid feature set, and fair price.

  • The Garmin Nuvi 3490 LMT packs every trick in Garmin's book into an ultra-thin chassis, but the high MSRP will deter some.

Overall the nuvi 3490LMT is a nice model. Hopefully the HD traffic reception issues will be resolved over time. For myself and for now, I'd go with one of the 2x95LMT models over the 3490LMT. But folks who have to deal with traffic on a daily basis may want to keep an eye on the forums and see how quickly the traffic reception issues are resolved.

  • The most user-friendly hardware sat-nav around.

  • With its improved interface, the Garmin Nuvi 2495LMT (Advanced Series) is as easy to use as earlier models, while offering a good blend of advanced features at a reasonable price.

Even with my love of powered mounts (missing here), the nuvi Advanced series rocks. New (and very useful) customization options, exit services and choices of routes will tempt many nuvi owners to upgrade. It looks like Garmin has another winner.

  • The only model in Garmin's nuvi lineup that offers road map coverage for Europe is the nuvi 2475LT. The feature list is extremely similar to the nuvi 2455LMT, but leaves out the lifetime map updates. , but covers North America only. Otherwise, the nuvi 2475LT adds a Bluetooth receiver with Smartphone Link, which allows your Android smartphone to become an interface extension of the GPS unit.

The Garmin nuvi 2555LMT is a mid-range unit in Garmin's 2012 nuvi Advanced series line. One of the more significant refreshes in recent years, the Advanced series adds several new customization options, improved search functionality and Exit Services. All models in the Advanced series come with preloaded maps of the US, Canada and Mexico. The 2555LMT offers all this along with an extra-wide 5" screen, lifetime traffic and lifetime map updates.

  • The Garmin nuvi 2555LMT is a mid-range automobile GPS unit with a 5-inch touchscreen display. It features Garmin's Guidance 2.0 system, free lifetime traffic and map updates, photoReal junction view, and dual-orientation functionality.

  • While 5-inch screens have become commonplace, some drivers would rather sacrifice some screen real estate to gain more forward visibility. The nuvi 2455LMT packs the same features as its 5-inch siblings, only with a much more manageable 4.3-inch display instead. This model can be mounted in either vertical or horizontal orientations. The widescreen layout allows split-screen map displays, with one side showing detailed maps and directions while the other provides photorealistic representations of the upcoming road.
