  • The Nuvi 3597LMTHD continues to refine Garmin's brand of navigation with premium design and one of the best interfaces in the business.

  • Garmin has done it again with the nÃ?¼vi 3597LMTHD, a high-end portable GPS device that continues to set the bar for the genre. The question is whether there's a market for pricey in-car navigation systems these days.

The new magnetic mount and various new features (up ahead, traffic announcements, active lane guidance) are great additions to the Prestige line. Unfortunately the poorer than expected Bluetooth and voice command don't measure up. Hopefully those issues can be resolved with a firmware update.

If you already own one of Garmin's higher-end nuvi models purchased within the last 2 years, the 3590 LMT probably isn't compelling enough to warrant upgrading. If you don't already have a GPS, or are looking to upgrade an older/lower-end model, the 3590 LMT is a solid navigator packed with virtually every feature available on a Garmin GPS: 5-inch screen, traffic, free map updates, multi-touch gesture support, voice command, Bluetooth and much more.

  • It's getting tougher to make the case for high-end GPS devices, but the fully loaded Garmin 3590LMT easily succeeds. It's a worthy purchase if you have the cash.

  • The Garmin nuvi 3590 LMT is a high-quality, feature-rich sat-nav. As we've commented before with regard to the Garmin smartphone app and the nuLink 2320, the Live services do get a bit pricey. If you purchased all of them, you would be paying £62.24 a year, which is significantly more than TomTom currently charges for its LIVE services. However, the device does come with lifetime map updates and lifetime RDS-TMC traffic, so you can get traffic information without the enhanced 3D Traffic service.

This 7" model is a welcome addition to the nuvi line and I'm going to cautiously recommend it. If it wasn't for the Bluetooth issue I might deem it the best nuvi yet. Hopefully that will be fixed with a firmware update in the near future. In addition to the giant screen, the most notable improvements are active lane guidance, the up ahead feature and traffic announcements.

  • Nuvi 2797LMT keeps your driving map onscreen at all times and additional information appears alongside. For details, simply ask or touch the screen. As you drive your route, Up Ahead constantly informs you of nearby services, including restaurants, fuel stations, hospitals and stores.

Nuvi 2797LMT displays speed limit, current speed and accurate time of arrival. With a quick glance, you can read the name of your current street. nuvi 2797LMT also shows school zone warnings.

  • Garmin's midrange nuvi 2597LMT comes with some useful new features, but it's priced a bit high for what you get.

With the exception of the poor Bluetooth sound quality, the 2597LMT is a worthy successor to last year's 2595LMT. The most notable improvements are active lane guidance, the up ahead feature and traffic announcements. Is it worth it to get the 2597LMT over the 2557LMT, given the Bluetooth issue? For me the answer would be yes, since I am often out on the road alone and the voice command feature works very well. Except for that nagging Bluetooth issue, the 2597LMT is one of the best nuvis yet.

Highly recommended. The only trouble I had testing the Essential series was that it wouldn't connect to the computer once. But after I used it in the car, I was able to bring it in and connect it with no problem. This is a basic navigator but it has all the features most people will need. An improved mounting system and faster processor mark the most significant updates since the nuvi 40.
