  • - The DHT-FS3 can't decode the more intense Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD soundtracks found on Blu-ray discs, so you'll get the fallback Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks from your Blu-ray player.
    - Bass and treble controls are available as well, so you can tweak the tonal balance to your liking.
    - It's also beautifully finished in piano black.

  • There's no onscreen display here, though - menu options and settings are shown on the soundbar's front panel

  • - The DHT-FS3's elegant piano-black finish adds a touch of class that's rare in this category.

  • While we'd prefer more input options, the Vizio VHT510 adds rear speakers to the traditional sound bar design, resulting in outstanding sound quality at a very affordable price.

  • The Vizio VHT510 speaker system is a mid-cost offering. Vizio recommends using the VHT510 with HDTVs forty inches and larger. This 5.1 Surround Sound home theater consists of the compact sound bar (which integrates front and center channels), two rear satellite speakers and a wireless subwoofer.

The Vizio VHT510 sound bar speaker system tackles a major complaint leveled against sound bars head on: that the simulated surround sound offered by 2.1-channel sound bars simply can't offer the same all-encompassing audio experience as a true 5.1-channel home theater system. The VHT510 alleviates that problem by including two small rear speakers in the mix.

  • - The review sample's grey plastic cabinet feels sturdy, and the backside's keyhole slots facilitate wall mounting.

  • What's refreshing about the TVee is that unlike other soundbar systems it doesn't pretend to do the job of a 5.1-channel system with disappointing virtual surround modes - it's an unashamed two-channel system that makes stereo sources sound their absolute best. It's well made, powerful and incredibly easy to install thanks to the wireless subwoofer, providing flat-panel TV owners with a classy, convenient alternative to a proper home cinema system.

  • - The setup process is easy, and it's compatible with most cable, TV, satellite, or universal remote controls.
    - Audio performance is impressive if you have reasonable expectations.

  • While it's got an attractive design, the JVC TH-F3's high price and dearth of extra features make it hard to recommend.

    - Not all digital video and audio files will be recognized and able to be played.
    - The system features digital-in and analog-in inputs, and has a built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoder.
