The best 50" LG plasma TVs excel in their contrast ratios and like most of LG's plasma TVs, give you the pleasure of watching fast moving movies and sports scenes in great clarity with no motion blur. However they are not the best fit for well lit rooms as they tend to have lower brightness levels and also, due to their glass screens, reflect ambient light. Our list below show you the top rated plasma televisions from LG with screen sizes of 50" - 60".

  • We wanted to love the LG PN6500. It has a lot going for it: good looks, accurate colors, an incredibly wide viewing angle, and terrific motion performance. But a terrible contrast ratio ruins the entire package. What's worse, this is a plasma TV, which means it should have a rich, dark black level. The fact that it doesn't is troublesome.

LG's LED displays usually have poor black levels and incredibly bright white levels to make up for them. Would you ever buy a sports car that accelerated slower than a hybrid?

  • I mean if you just want a good 1080p HD picture for a darker room at home how can you beat $849? You cant. If you are not interested in 3D, Smart TV or any of the fanciest features that higher end TVs have to offer and just want a good sports or movie TV then the 60PN6500 could be the answer. You certainly get great savings from 1) going plasma and 2) foregoing all the extra features. There still plenty of HDMI inputs and connectivity options.

  • The LG PN5300 series is a solid choice if you want to pay very little for a large plasma HDTV, although it's not a top-level performer.

  • The LG PA4500 is a decent budget TV in many respects but its competitors are able to deliver bigger picture quality for the buck.

The LG 42PA4500 TV is a quality unit with many great features. It may not be the best choice out there, but for the price, it is definitely worth every penny. If you can afford to spend more than $750 on a TV, this might not be the right choice for you, but if not, it is a great upgrade from any LCD unit or any older Plasma.

You will get a sharp image with great features to automatically calibrate your picture. This TV is easy to operate and you will be able to enjoy any program you choose with the incredible image and the slim profile.

  • The LG 42PA4500 is a plasma TV that can be picked up for around £350. We tested the 42" model (42PA4500) but this TV is also available with a 50" screen (50PA4500).

With its relatively restrained price tag, the LG PA4500 isn't promising the most amazing image quality. In fact, LG seems more keen to promote the integrated multimedia player. This TV therefore makes do with the strict minimum-and sometimes a bit less-with a 1366 x 768 pixel plasma screen, two HDMI ports, two USB ports ... and that's your lot!
