Lowrance, a wholly owned subsidiary company of Navico Inc., entered into the GPS receivers' market for the first time in 1991, incorporating the Rockwell GPS technology. In 1995, Lowrance came out with the world's first LCD product offering integrated GPS, mapping and sonar capabilities, GlobalMap 2000, and currently there are no manufacturers barring Lowrance, who offer a comprehensive range of sonar and GPS products for outdoor activities.

Lowrance, specialize in the development of marine devices using GPS technology and with the help of GPS navigation for sonar devices in water, easy and effective fishing can be accomplished.

Other applications of Lowrance GPS products include their usage in cruising, paddlesports, geocaching, hiking, biking (also mountain biking), four wheeling, snowmobiling and skiing.
