  • The Dell M900HD is a powerful, compact projector that packs a variety of presenting features into a tiny package. Its 30,000-hour LED light engine removes the need for lamp replacements, thereby reducing the number of things that can go wrong while you're out on the road. It has best-in-class connectivity thanks to its creative implementations of USB and WiFi projection.

  • The Dell M900HD is a small, featherweight projector that's brighter than most of the LED-based mini-projectors we've seen in recent years.

  • The Dell M900HD is incredibly portable, and very convenient if you have a suitably equipped laptop, phone or tablet. It does get pretty hot, and a few more ANSI lumens would increase its versatility. Nonetheless, it compares very favourably to other similar models on the market, and will prove a great option for mobile executives and large businesses needing a projector that can service several rooms.

  • The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 750HD is an interesting proposition. While some users will be quick to write it off as a low-resolution alternative to the entry-level 1080p projectors in the marketplace, it distinguishes itself in several ways. It offers the best color available at its price point, it has full 3D capability, and it has more light output than either of its main competitors. This makes it a force to be reckoned with in the living room.

  • The Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 750HD offers only 720p native resolution, but it also delivers guaranteed rainbow-free images in 2D and 3D, and it comes with one pair of 3D glasses.

The NEC M311X has a lot going for it and its price point should be very attractive to the buyer looking for a low maintenance, high output projector in a compact package. For price and performance, it compares well with other LCD projectors in its class, while offering more features than many of them. However, the Viewsonic PJD6544w (big brother to the recently reviewed Viewsonic PJD5533w) offers WXGA resolution and similar brightness and features at lower price.

  • The NEC NP-M311W delivers a bright image, WXGA (1,280 by 800) resolution, near-excellent data image quality, and better video quality than most data projectors.

  • The PJD6683ws delivers a more than attractive mix of features, starting with the native 1280x800 resolution and the short throw lens. It's also suitably bright; it delivers near excellent data image quality; and it offers all the connections you'll likely need, including HDMI.

The one potential shortcoming is the video quality. However, the video is good enough for short clips, even with the projector's tendency to show rainbows.

  • The ViewSonic PJD6683ws delivers a bright, high quality data image, a native 1280 by 800 resolution, and a short throw that lets you show big images from close to the screen.

  • The Epson PowerLite 1761W Multimedia Projector is slim and ultra-light, offers very good data and video image quality, and provides solid connectivity choices including Wi-Fi.
