  • The Samsung ATIV Book 9 Plus goes toe to toe with the best premium ultrabooks, then tops it off with a jaw-dropping high-resolution display.

  • In any case, the 940X3G has overall really earned a purchase recommendation, although potential buyers can choose among many, not less attractive alternatives. Another serious contender might be the soon to be released Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 2 Pro that features an even better configuration for a similar price. Samsung should not rest on its laurels.

  • The ATIV Book 9 Plus keeps the slim and sleek chassis of its predecessor and adds a Retina-like display, long battery life and swift Haswell performance.

  • The Samsung Series 9 NP900X3D is an attractive 13-inch laptop that is easy to cast as Samsung's alternative to the MacBook Air. However, it shouldn't be dismissed as being all about style. Its combo of low weight, thin frame, a matt screen and SSD storage makes it incredibly portable and convenient. This helps to offset that it doesn't offer a great amount of power for the price.

  • You can tell, can't you? I really like the Samsung Series 9 and it's hard to beat as one of the most ultraportable 13" Ultrabooks for style, quality, performance and extreme light weight. The only drawback? It lacks a touch screen, and Windows 8 is easier to use with touch. That said, if you spend most of your time in the traditional Windows desktop UI with Word, Excel, Visual Studio, Photoshop and other Windows staples as your constant companions, you probably won't miss the touch screen.

The Samsung Series 9 2012 is a great laptop with a stunning design. It's not always easy to see how things really "feel" in the real world when all you have are photos and videos, and Samsung should do anything it can to put these in people's hands. It is amazing to see that a 15" laptop can be so light (3.63lbs), and yet feel so well built.

As nice as it is, it's not perfect: the display view angle and the touchpad driver would be the main thing that I would like to see improved in a subsequent update.

  • The Samsung ATIV Book 7 (NP740U3E-K01UB) ultrabook offers style and substance with solid performance, all-metal construction, and a 1080p touch screen.

  • The Samsung Ativ Book 7 has a high-resolution touchscreen display and fabulous battery life, but its wonky Wi-Fi performance is a problem and its keyboard will drive touch typists bonkers.

  • Rating Unavailable

The ATIV Book 7 is a good value among touchscreen Ultrabooks, with a reliable trackpad, fast SSD and lovely display. The main trade-offs are a shallow keyboard and a relatively heavy frame.

  • The Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C-A01US gives you the portability of an ultrabook at a lower price, but compromises on performance.

  • AMD-powered ultraportable laptop is as thin and light as an Ultrabook, but can't match the performance of its Intel-based rivals.

  • You shouldn't write off the Samsung Series 5 NP535U3C just because it has an AMD processor instead of an Intel processor. Though Intel's Ultrabooks may outperform the AMD Series 5 overall, the Series 5's integrated Radeon HD 7500G graphics are slightly more impressive than Intel's HD 4000 integrated graphics. In addition, the AMD Series 5 is cheaper than its Intel counterpart, and it has excellent speakers for the category.

  • The 900X3B is a worthy successor to the first generation Series 9 lineup in almost every aspect and is without a doubt high-end quality hardware. In fact, everything that the 900X3B offers to users, it does extraordinarily well. Slightly lower battery life aside, Samsung has flattened the already thin chassis of the original while simultaneously maintaining the same level of durability and updating the internal hardware.

  • The Samsung Series 9 15-inch (NP900X4C) improves upon the original 15-inch Series 9 in almost every way.

  • The Samsung Series 9 is the most well-rounded Ultrabook we've reviewed to date. It gets almost everything right - it even has decent speakers. The 1600x900 PLS display has fantastic picture quality with unlimited viewing angles and an anti-glare coating for better usability. The performance is outstanding; a full boot up takes less than 11 seconds. Our battery test measured almost eight hour of life, which is good for an Ultrabook. The backlit keyboard feels good and the touchpad is plenty accurate. It stays cool and quiet at all times.
