  • A 21x zoom and a wealth of shooting options and wireless features make the Samsung WB800F Smart Camera a fine smartphone accessory.

  • The Samsung WB800F packs a sharp 21x zoom lens and Wi-Fi, but some issues with image and video quality prevent it from getting top marks.

  • As usual, though, the price of the Samsung WB800F is very appealing - an official tag of £249.99 / $299.99, before any shopping around, makes this camera, if not an outright bargain, then certainly cheaper than the rest of the travel-zoom crowd, especially considering the features on offer. Only you can decide if that's all worth sacrificing a little image quality for.

  • With its long lens and compact size, plus extras like built-in Wi-Fi and GPS, the Nikon Coolpix S9500 is a very good point-and-shoot travel companion.

  • Nikon's Coolpix S9500 is a fully loaded pocket camera with a huge zoom range and a sharp lens, but it doesn't quite edge out our Editors' Choice.

  • Ultimately the Nikon Coolpix S9500 offers a versatile zoom lens, good image quality and performance, and enough interesting features to be deserving of your consideration, especially if you don't mind the lack of manual control.

  • For those who want more camera than their smartphone offers without sacrificing the easy sharing, the Samsung WB250F Smart Camera is a good, affordable choice.

  • The Samsung WB250F has a long 18x zoom lens and a top-notch Wi-Fi implementation, but image quality isn't the best we've seen in its class.

  • The Samsung WB250F currently sits just under the £200 mark. That's a little high for a camera of this construction, but the tech makes up for it. From a geek point of view, there's plenty to do with lots of little features and settings to test and play with. From a photographer's point of view, it's a plastic camera with a bad lens and noise at low ISO. If you can look past that, or you don't see what we see, then you'd be perfectly happy with the Samsung WB250F.

  • In summary the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ35 is admittedly cheaper than the more expensive TZ40 model, but it does concede quite a lot of ground to achieve the more aggressive price-tag, and it doesn't offer that many upgrades over the previous TZ25 model. Therefore, while the DMC-TZ35 is certainly a very competent travel-zoom, it doesn't offer enough to convince us to save the extra outlay for its big brother, or more seriously for Panasonic one of its main rivals.

  • The pricing and feature-set of TZ35 / ZS25 makes sense when compared to Panasonic's 2013 models and comes Recommended if you don't need the extras of the TZ40 / ZS30, but it's well worth keeping an eye on the price of last year's TZ30 / ZS20 while stocks last. At the time of writing, the TZ30 / ZS20 was discounted to a similar point as the new TZ35 / ZS25 in some regions, yet offered a touch-screen, GPS, 1080p video and faster continuous shooting in addition to the same 20x zoom range.

  • Overall, this is a very good camera that should be one of the top considerations for those looking for the ideal travel compact that offers just a little bit extra than the bog standard options available on the market.
