  • The Olympus Stylus SH-2 is a stylish compact camera with a 24x zoom. It's a solid performer when shooting Raw, but its JPG output is disappointing.

  • Back in 2014 when we reviewed the Olympus Stylus SH-1, we really wanted to like that camera. After all, it was a beautifully crafted product with a great feature set, responsive operation and a versatile lens. However, we were somewhat let down by its image quality, specifically its sub-par JPEG engine and lack of raw image capture.
Thankfully, Olympus addressed both of these issues in the new SH-2 model.

The Olympus Stylus SH-2 is a powerful compact digicam that offers tremendous versatility with its 24x optical zoom lens and 5-axis image stabilization. Easy and creative shooting modes get the most out of the 16-Megapixel CMOS imaging sensor, letting you just snap away.

  • The Olympus Stylus SP-100 bridge-style camera can tackle any scene thanks to a 50x lens, but it doesn't include Wi-Fi, and image quality isn't quite where it should be.

  • The Olympus SP-100EE is a very decently built bridge camera with a nicely textured hand-grip and rubberised lens barrel, a well-specified electronic viewfinder and a good range of manual adjustments.

  • Rating Unavailable

Considering the Olympus SP-100 ultra-zoom camera has a starting price around $400, most of this model's features are below average compared to similarly priced models, including its overall image quality. This camera's advanced shooting modes are limited at best too, which leaves the SP-100 trailing other cameras in this price range.

  • The Wi-Fi-enabled 24x Olympus Stylus SH-1 is stylish, but it doesn't quite match the best superzooms in image quality or range, and it's on the pricey side.

  • The Olympus SH-1 is arguably one of the most attractive travelzoom cameras we have ever come across. Its retro-styled aluminium-alloy body is reminiscent of the manufacturer's PEN line of film cameras and CSCs. In hand, it feels great courtesy of a small but well-sculpted, textured grip, which provides a surprisingly secure hold and a good resting place for your fingers.
In use, the camera proved to be quite responsive, with quick start-up, focus acquisition and shot-to-shot times.

  • While the SH-1's new look might give the illusion of a premium camera, it's actually just a glorified compact, offering no real improvement in picture quality over its predecessor. Its very-responsive processor, the TruePic VII, unfortunately hasn't done anything to improve the set-up either. The addition of built-in Wi-Fi is a real plus, but it's not enough to set this camera apart from the competition, which includes compact cameras with bigger and better zooms.

  • The Olympus Stylus SH-50 packs a large number of extremely useful features such as manual controls, 11 fps continuous shooting and superb optical image stabilisation. With many other travel cameras that have a similar amount of zoom having Wi-Fi and GPS it may be overlooked, particularly as there are also cheaper travel cameras available. If Wi-Fi and GPS is not what you desire in a camera, then the feature set, decent image quality and excellent body will appeal.
