Plain and Simple
The LG Blu-ray Disc/ DVD model BP125 is a plain and simple Blu-ray player. No gadgets no wifi just Blu-ray which is exactly what I wanted with this device. It is easy to setup and use but it does not come with an HDMI cord so keep that in mind. But overall this player is as simple and reliable as it'll get. Batman Dark Night Rises looks amazing on this by the way. Perfect simplicity.
Good and bad
I love the picture quality on this player, and have had no problems playing blurays/dvds and also no compatibility issues when hooked to my laptop.
I have had TONS of problems when using it with Netflix, but I'm not sure if that's a Netflix issue or a software/program issue. The player has frozen several times already at random moments.
Great little machine for the price point
I paid $35 for this DVD player back in June, 2012 which I thought was a pretty good deal. Now I see it is under $30 so my advice is to buy it while it is hot! My old Sony player was about ten years old and every other rental DVD I received skipped around so badly I couldn't enjoy a movie. As I wasn't sure if I wanted all the bells and whistles right now (Blu Ray or wireless to stream movies, etc) I went for cheap. So I was expecting a basic machine and that is what I got.
Not that great
Bought this on sale for $55 and that's about what you get for it. Had to replace the first order because it was defective on arrival. Panasonic was going to make me pay to ship it to them to fix/replace but Amazon replaced for free. It's my first BluRay player, but I would not call it "Ultra-Fast Booting" as it seems to take longer than my DVD player to start up when playing DVDs or Blu-Rays. The player always crashes after a firmware update so I have to manually power-cycle the device.
Excellent quality, plays most but not all formats
I'm impressed by its quality. And it does in fact play all DVDs of all regions. But it won't play all formats downloaded from online as my Philips DVD player will. If you don't care about playing youtube videos and all other things downloaded from online and burned to a disc, then this DVD player will be quite adequate for your needs.
Hit-and-miss playback of burned/recorded DVDs, especially with different media formats
The Panasonic DVD-S48 is a basic progressive scan DVD/CD player with multi-format playback capability. As such, the DVD-S48 is capable of handling DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD+R, DVD+R DL, DVD-RW and DVD+RW discs while offering commercial DVD playback.
