Great TV for $250
Was a bit skeptical for the price and an unknown brand. Turns out this is great TV - decent picture, easy to set up, plenty of connections , sound is OK.
I have it wired to a regular DirecTV box (not HD) and use a mode in the TV to fill the screen - looks OK - not too grainy and plenty bright. Also have an antenna hooked up - off-air HD looks just fine.
Very nice, but some slight problems
The Haier picture is very nice and the sound is good for use in the bedroom.
I do have a problem with the speed of the channel changing - very slow. It seems the channel either zooms up/down if you hold the button or changes to the next channel and you have to wait a long pause for the channel to appear before you can change it again. Not surfer friendly.
Also the channel number in the upper right corner of the screen is a very small font.
Great contrast ratio
Haier's 55-inch model is the only screen size in the B2181 series. It's in the price range of $700-$999, depending on which retailer you buy from. The price seems decent for a 55-inch LCD, until you consider that it's an unattractive, non-3D, non-Smart, utterly inflexible product.
We could come to an understanding of this TVs value, if only its performance had been better.
