Beautiful set, Pretty pricey but you pay for quality
I'd highly recommend this tv to anyone who is looking to buy a quality set that provides a good at home cinematic feeling. If you can afford it id recommend buying this sets big brother LA8600. Which comes equipped with a built camera, that allows you to use skype and/or control the tv through finger gestures.
Voice Control through Magic Remote speeds selection process/browsing
The LG 55LA7400 promises to be a pretty good seller for LG with the excellent Magic Remote, 3D, and faster 240Hz processing speed, and superior sound quality. Competition is from the Samsung UN55F7500 and UN55F7100, as well as many plasma TVs such as the Panasonic TC-P55VT60. Overall the TV has lots to offer though as of this writing may not be the best value on the market at around $2000.
TV's design is nothing if not unique
Picture quality like this on a TV half the price would be one thing, but a price just shy of two grand is another story; the 47-inch LA7400 carries an MSRP of $1799.99. Definitely look for this on sale - we found it online for about $1200. Sure, much of what you're paying for is features - but that's exactly the point. If you're looking for top-dog picture quality, move on.
3D is so good
If you are after an LED set, the LA7400 performs well compared to other LEDs in its price range. The 55-incher reviewed here is $1,600 at Amazon, and the 60-inches comes in at $1,900. The pre-calibration image was OK, but the calibrated image was often beautiful, with great color saturation and a nice, natural look. The black level/contrast ratio is similar to other edge-lit LED LCD models (as in, only OK), but it offers some of the best 3D Iâ?? ve watched at home.
Sleek and minimalist in design
The Panasonic TC-P60S60 (MSRP $1299) is one of the first (if not the first) 2013 series available on the consumer market. While Sharp is shipping a few of its new models, Panasonic's S60 series became available for pre-order first: The higher-end ST60 series won't hit our labs until next month. In a way, our pent-up excitement for the new tech expected this year became channeled into this first real taste of 2013. Our first impression? The S60 is going to be a tough act to follow.
Excellent Smart 3D TV from LG!
This TV has Dual Core processor and I can see the difference immediately. The moment you press menu or home, it hardly takes a second to launch (The previous gen single core processor takes a good 2 or more seconds). The Magic remote is shorter/sleeker and easier to handle. I like the new voice search. Along with internet, it also searches and lists the files in DLNA shares. This TV also has in-built 2.1 sound.
Good Quality Color performance from the semi-clear coat screen
The LG 55LA6900 is certainly going to compete well in the value area given the Magic Remote strengths and solid picture performance combined with incredible looks. Pricing is $1499 or more and that gives you a nice discount from the 240Hz 55" models on the market. Competition is from the Samsung UN55F7100, and the Panasonic TC-L55ET60 as a couple of comparisons.
The 55-inch LA6900 retails for about $2000, though you could likely find it for less online. That said, I really don't recommend purchasing this TV unless you find it at a serious discount. I had high hopes for this LG, but its core performance just isn't strong enough. It has all of the usual weaknesses attributed to LCDs: A poor black level and blurry motion handling.
That's not to say it's without uses. As far as pure color production goes, the LA6900 is great.
You WILL be dazzled!!!
Take my advice and go check this model out for yourself! Just be prepared to be DAZZLED and don't be surprised if you end up signing your life away to get one! These new 4K resolution HDTV's are game changers, just like the original 720/1080p sets were. Sony's upconversion with their X-Reality PRO chip is TOP NOTCH , the build quality is great , the sound is WAY WAY above average and the color/detail is out of this world.
Great TV with DVD Player
I am very pleased with our purchase. The TV was easy to set up and looks really nice on the TV stand I got for it. Picture quality is better than I expected. Sound quality is definitely adequate - it isn't bose quality speakers, but I have no trouble hearing the TV loudly from across the room. I would recommend to someone looking for an affordable TV with great features and a nice design.
Excellent picture for the price
The picture looks great. The speakers are pretty bad they crackle when turned up. But if you hook up surround it's not an issue. The base is pretty lame you have to screw it on, i've never seen that before. For $400 it's a great tv. I was surprised bc i figured it was a westinghouse POS, but it seems legit. If your on a budget or just cheap as hell, this tv is what's up
Surprisingly good contrast, since everything else is subpar
Testing budget TVs offers a thrill that higher-end models don't give. Every time I review one of these low-end displays, I hope that it'll be the one, that diamond in the rough with outstanding picture quality for a bargain. The Westinghouse CW46T9FW is just the latest disappointment. And to add insult to injury, it doesn't even look good aesthetically.
Saying that everything is bad on this Westinghouse would be dishonest. It has good contrast, plus its audio quality is actually decent.
Glad I went with the bigger TV
I was looking for a new TV for the bedroom. I was debating between this TV and the the 39" Samsung for the same price. I was leary because there was no reviews yet on this TV. I could not be happier with the purchase. The picture is awesome and the sound quality for a flat screen is great. I would definitely reccomend this to a friend or family member.
Love this TV!!!
I love this TV!!! It is the perfect answer for an already smart setup. If you have an apple tv or game console and dont want an overpriced tv for simple features this is it. A big tv, great picture, and free sound bar with mount. NOTE: there is no mount for the tv just the sound bar. Remote comes with batteries but no backlight.
Finally, a plasma that looks good with the lights on
This tv still looks amazing and even more so after updating the settings in Custom. We still use the THX bright room settings when it's really bright outside and the shades are all the way up (windows are now directly across from the tv). There is still glare but no worse than on other tvs and not as bad as on some. Blacks still look good even with all that light shining directly on the set. I have seen no image retention while watching tv and I do not hunt for it.
3D Performance - Excellent
The TC-P50GT50 has the Infinite Black Pro panel that is Panasonic's best for 2012, but without the Ultra filter on the VT50 series which is even better. This is a big step up from lower end plasmas from Panasonic due to the much better signal processing. Black levels are about 20% better than lesser models with the extra fine processing of the sub pixel controller which controls the sub pixels red, green, blue inside each individual pixel cell.
