Excellent voice command functionality
This 7" model is a welcome addition to the nuvi line and I'm going to cautiously recommend it. If it wasn't for the Bluetooth issue I might deem it the best nuvi yet. Hopefully that will be fixed with a firmware update in the near future. In addition to the giant screen, the most notable improvements are active lane guidance, the up ahead feature and traffic announcements.
Easy-to-use touchscreen interface
Nuvi 2797LMT keeps your driving map onscreen at all times and additional information appears alongside. For details, simply ask or touch the screen. As you drive your route, Up Ahead constantly informs you of nearby services, including restaurants, fuel stations, hospitals and stores.
Nuvi 2797LMT displays speed limit, current speed and accurate time of arrival. With a quick glance, you can read the name of your current street. nuvi 2797LMT also shows school zone warnings.
Finally a step in the right direction for Car Audio
I have been tracking Asteroid smart for about a year and finally pulled the trigger and am glad i did. The screen on this unit is simply gorgeous! It is fluid and acts just like a typical phone nowadays. The speed of the interface is also super fast. Nothing has to load or tap and wait. It just works. The connectivity is awesome as well. Everything works with USB today and so why not have it in the unit.
Good features, but kinda unreliable
The voice navigation is the worst I've seen in a GPS so far. The voice is clear and loud enough, but its annoying that you're stuck with only one voice choice. Worse though....its often inaccurate! For instance, it often says 'Continue 1 mile on main street' when it actually means 'Continue 1 mile UNTIL main street'. I've seen that happen alot with it. A few times I've seen it give turn directions slightly after I passed the street I was supposed to turn on.
Huge Screen & Lots of Route Flexibility
Lackluster windshield mount and a user interface that's getting long in the tooth aside, the RoadMate 9250T-LMB excels in the most important area: routing. It's easy to customize the route to avoid certain roads, maximize or minimize highway usage, or simply detour around a traffic jam for a few miles and then resume the planned route.
The huge 7-inch screen and support for the optional Magellan wireless backup camera will please RV/large vehicle drivers.
Short transducer cable
I paid extra postage so I could use this unit on a upcoming salmon tournament that week end.
Upon installation I discovered the transducer cable was way too short. I contacted the vender and was informed the transducer cable only comes as 20 ft. Figuring the ups, sideways and what not the transducer cable might be to short for any boat over 16 foot long.
I had to hunt down and buy another 20 foot transducer cable. The vender didn't have any to sell.
Pure-white LED screen/keypad backlighting fully adjusts to zero-dim for night viewing
The Lowrance HDS-7 Gen2 Fishfinder/GPS Chartplotter offers excellent viewing detail in a large, 6.4" 480V x 640H pixel full VGA color display format that features a brilliant, enhanced SolarMAX PLUS display for superior sunlight and wider-angle viewing. The pure-white LED screen/keypad backlighting fully adjusts to zero-dim for night viewing.
Built-in high sensitivity antenna
The Lowrance HDS 7 Gen2 Touch with 83/200 and Structure Scan Transducer is a complete package that includes two transducers, built-in mapping a built-in high sensitivity antenna. And with Touch Screen operation, navigation has never been easier.
Buy it... You will love it!
I too had the 710 for about 18 months when it began to have problems with the power cord. I know this sounds gross but if you put the plug in your mouth and wet it with saliva it will usually charge again but it becomes a pain in the neck after a while. So I purchased the new 720. I have now been using it for 3 weeks in my 18 wheeler. So far I like it much more than the 710 because the screen is clearer and larger letters and numbers help my 42 year old eyes.
Enhanced Truck Routing
The IntelliRoute TND 720 from Rand McNally features Wi-Fi connectivity and dynamic weather updates displayed on the map. Built from the ground up for professional drivers, the TND 720 incorporates hours of testing by truck drivers and was designed to help truckers in each phase of their work day, from planning to driving.
RV & Large vehicle features
The Magellan RoadMate Pro 9165T is a RV/large vehicle GPS with a large 7-inch touchscreen, a 6 million points of interest database with Good Sam and real-time traffic. It has features geared towards large vehicles, like the ability to plan routes that can handle your vehicle's size and type.
Not worth the money
I purchased this product two weeks ago. At first I liked it. The graphics were A bit dull but I got used to them. I liked the menu xon the nav screen, it would show me the mile marker I was at, how far to the next rest area and how far to the next travel center. What I didnt like was the system freezing up and I had to use a paperclip to restart it. It also didnt tell me to take a truck route when dropping into the LA area.
