Short transducer cable
I paid extra postage so I could use this unit on a upcoming salmon tournament that week end.
Upon installation I discovered the transducer cable was way too short. I contacted the vender and was informed the transducer cable only comes as 20 ft. Figuring the ups, sideways and what not the transducer cable might be to short for any boat over 16 foot long.
I had to hunt down and buy another 20 foot transducer cable. The vender didn't have any to sell.
Pure-white LED screen/keypad backlighting fully adjusts to zero-dim for night viewing

Great item for the price
Well, I got this a few days ago and finally got a chance to take it to the lake. I was planning on getting a map card for it, but after testing it, i think for now the maps built in are adequate for me. The picture is incredibly clear. This unit is replacing a cuda with about the same size display. Even with the small display, I could easily read the screen while operating the boat. The manual is not great, but I was willing to expoler the options.
Button layout on the front is relatively simple
The Lowrance Mark-4 is a nice little fishfinder/GPS combo, and the least-expensive GPS fishfinder I could find on the market. The small screen handles the map and sonar split-screen sufficiently, especially if you'll be in a close-range viewing situation - like a fishing kayak or small boat. If you don't mind the grayscale - then this is your unit. If you want color - pluck out the extra dough for the Mark-4's color cousin: The Elite-4.
Exactly what I was looking for
This is the perfect marine GPS for anyone who already has a fishfinding sonar but just wants a gps. My fishfinder is built-in to the dash and would have been a difficult chore to replace with a fishfinder/chartplotter combo. So instead I was in the market for just a GPS that I could mount on my dash. Lowrance makes some of the best products for anything boat related so when I found this version without sonar I knew this is what I wanted.
Does the trick
Installed this on my kayak and only use it in saltwater. does well in open water shows shapes of bottom structure, even kelp stringers. the gray line feature isn't the miracle they make it out to be, it's very unclear whether or not it's hard or soft surfaces there is to much mixture of black and gray on the screen in layers. programming is ok in default mode but bring the instruction manual if u want to dial it in. otherwise just in shapes alone you can find fish structure and habitat, good...
Unhappy with Lowrance Customer Service
The price was great and the shipping fast. Vendor was great! The X4 Pro arrived with an owner's manual that was missing 16 pages. Upon calling Lowrance's customer service number, I was informed that they don't stock individual owner's manuals. They advised that I download one from thier web site. Guess what! There is none for an X4 Pro on thier's or any other web site. Now I have a unit that appears to work OK, but I will never know how to use/adjust all of it's features. My advice?
Good at displaying detailed bottom structure
Overall the Lowrance X4 Pro is very easy to use, has a good display, the Grayline is very accurate along with the depth, temp, volt meter, and the sonar works flawlessly. Factory settings work great and with a ASP feature it automatically sets for the water conditions, so you can get on the water quickly. Easy install, very easy operation, and with the dual search the high end features plus 1800 watts peak power make for a powerful package at a low price.
Dual frequency split-screen allows for both wide and detailed coverage
The Lowrance Elite-5 DSI is a GPS enabled fishfinder with down scan sonar imaging that was revealed at the July 2010 ICAST show where it received Best Electronics award. It features a five inch 480 x 480 SolarMax display with 256 colors for clear photographic style images of the river bed and it also distinguishes between lower and upper Thermoclines or temperature layers in the water where fish can be found.
