Accuracy...Ease of use
So as you can see, even the Bushnell Lasers are only accurate to +/- 1 yd. For the extra $250 they want for it, I decided to buy the watch and spend the extra $250 on a new driver. The watch appears to be more accurate the longer the distance. I found it very easy to use and won't miss having to put the laser up to my eye, hold it very steady to make any more measurements. I am not a good enough golfer that 1 or 2 yds is going to make a big difference in my score.
Bluetooth hands-free calling rounds out a strong feature set
The Magellan SmartGPS bridges a gap between connected navigation apps and car-friendly GPS hardware with its ability to sync with the cloud and connect to the Web via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, but its busy interface could use fewer moving parts.
Decent unit, but EasyMenu hurts functionality
Overall, not a bad unit, but I'm bummed by some of the old functionality that is not available. In the end, the lack of 2d map w/ "up == direction of travel" made me decide to return this and pick up an XXL 540, which has the old (non-Easy) Menu. Hoping this meets my needs better.
Much better than the Global Trainer, but would like to see some changes
I think Timex has come a long way in terms of GPS watches, and this would be a really good option in my opinion over some other GPS's. Each has their own positives and negatives, and I would say this is probably my second favorite GPS watch.
New menu system is much cleaner/easier to use
I wouldn't have any problems recommending this unit for the majority of runners out there. No, it doesn't have the advanced workout or course features of some of the $300+ units on the market, but it does have roughly the same functionality as those units in the ~$200 range (+/- $25-30US), which is the price range the unit is in ($225).
Would not buy this
The rangefinder takes way more than 10 minutes to log on. Usually, we are 5 or 6 holes into the round before it starts to function.
The battery life does not give the 2 rounds that was predicted. With 60% of claimed battery life, there was a low battery warning that would not stop until the unit was turned off. If I still had the receipt, I would return it.
