Performs Well, Looks Nice, No Obnoxiously Bright Light
I bought this for a backup drive for my home file server. The server just supports USB 2, but I was pleased to see the product had an included 2 to USB 3 cable. It worked right away, and I formatted it to EXT4 without incident and ran a surface scan that passed just fine. While I have the server in a small rack, I was pleased to see lights were not like many other external drives: fully illuminating rooms with an amazingly bright bright blue light.

The 2TB My Book for Mac External Hard Drive from Western Digital is a desktop hard drive with a standard USB 2.0 interface and an illuminated capacity gauge that gives you a visual indication of how much space is available on the disk.
Designed for use with Mac OS X systems, the drive is preformatted with the HFS+ file system. It is compatible with Time Machine, allowing you to use it as an external backup drive.
Roomy back up
My son put this on my PC and it works fine. The drive was easy to install, fit well, and has no glitches or problems. It's a good idea to have a backup hard drive. All the photos, the recipes, videos on the computer than can be lost so quickly are worth investing in a backup hard drive. Once installed it's easy to use, no formatting or any special work, just plug and go
Great Drive with One Understandable Flaw
Because of some early negative reviews from Amazon users, and what I'm pretty sure is a computer rendering of the product instead of a photograph, I was initially a little reluctant about this drive. But I've had a lot of very good experiences with Seagate, so I bought it. I'm glad I did.
The build quality is nice. The enclosure is actually really slick. I do prefer the look of a thin, USB powered, 2.5" external, but in the world of 3.5" drives this is total design win.
Fast 7200RPM hard drive
Seagate is first to market with a 4TB external hard drive. First doesn't always mean best, but in this case, the 4TB Barracuda XT inside provides not only huge capacity but fantastic speeds as well, humming along with 185 MB/s reads and 153 MB/s writes - making the speed and capacity a killer combination for those looking for both in an external hard drive.
Great Hard drive
This hard drive is extremely impressive. My new Dell desktop came with a pci express card that is a hub for at least 2 USB ports that are 3.0. When I first hooked up the drive to my new PC (first time either had been used - the drive or the USB Hub) ... it did not work. So I plugged it into a USB 2.0 port and all was fine! It obviously had to initialize the hardware and install a plug n' play driver for it.
Solid, reliable hard drive, great price
Bought this for $90 and it works right out of the box. I had owned another red Canvio 1 TB Toshiba portable hard drive and wanted another one. This is not as stylish as the red one and has no pattern just plain black but who cares about that. You get 937GB of storage, USB 2.0 backwards compatible, that's how I am using it with a Win7 netbook. Software is great, I would recommend this for $90 as all other 1TB portable hard drives are over $120 at least.
The Toshiba Canvio 500GB is a very good performer. It sports simple yet elegant looks and the build quality is good. It comes with a drive with free fall sensor for extra protection of your data. The drive comes with NTI BackupNow EZ software to take care of your backup needs and the 500GB capacity is sufficient for most backup purposes. It does not come with a backup button, but we won't hold that against this drive, as it is basically a non-issue in such portable drives.
Very small hardware profile, easy to transport
The Toshiba Canvio is a USB 2.0, portable external hard drive released in April 2010. It utilizes a compact and lightweight design that weighs less than 6.3 ounces. Available in four SATA HDD sizes from 500GB to 1TB, the Canvio is USB 2.0 plug-n-play compatible with both Windows and Macintosh operating systems.
Nice portable hard drive
I purchased this portable hard drive when it was on sale during Amazon's Black Friday week. We weren't sure what to expect b/c the price was so low, but we were pleasantly surprised when it arrived. It's as simple as simple gets. Plug it into your USB port and drag and drop file. It's not loaded with any backup software, but we weren't looking for any. We copied all the data off our laptop (music, pictures, etc) in under an hour.
