Good surround sound system
We got this today & the sound is great! The only issue we had was we had to buy 2 other cords for it. The blue ray player is wonderful and it also plays dvds. I love how you can use netflix on it and it works wonderful as well!! Over all i would say this is a great surround system!!!!
Good system, just one problem.
For the money this is a good system. Very easy to set up. I've used HDMI from my cable (Uverse) and Blu-Ray player and through put to the TV. It's loud enough for me. I actually had bought the RT2906 (Walmart was selling it as a 1000W, which it isn't) so returned and bought the RT2910 from Amazon. That extra 400W makes a difference.
The only annoying issue is that every so often the sound cuts out. Just for a second and it seems to be when there is no noise other than speaking.
Speakers tend to crackle when not on an HDMI input
The RCA RT2910 1000-watt Home Theater System is a 6.1-channel (167-watts per channel) surround sound system, with Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Digital decoders. It features full HDMI switching through its three HDMI inputs, allowing the HDMI television signal to be passed through to the TV.
Excellent sound quality, Upsetting DVD system
I purchased this as a Christmas gift, after having it set up it was disappointing to find that the DVD player would not play all DVDs and it would pause and need to be re-booted to start up. There was absolutely no problem with the sound, the surround sound system was excellent, and the iPod deck was very convenient, it was unfortunate that the DVD player had a glitch in it. Fortunately it was within the refund period and customer service at Ritz Camera was very accommodating.
This is a low quality entry level 5.1 home theatre/DVD player. It plays DVDs OK and comes with 5 incredibly cheezy speakers along with plenty of wire to string them around. The Optical input is not fully compatible with Windows S/PDIF output. It DOES NOT Support DTS input although it plays DTS DVDs ok (via conversion). It supports Dolby input ONLY at up to 48KHz on the optical input cable so be aware. It does not support optical PCM or DTS decoding.
Don't waste your money
Terrible, terrible terrible! Please don't give RCA your money. This thing freezes multiple times during playback(and it's not the disc, we have put brand new discs in with the same results). When I called their help line, they acted like they knew it was a problem, but required a receipt for me to send it in for repair/exchange. Since I bought it online, I don't have that and now I'm stuck with some nice speakers, but a worthless player.
