Best Theater System for the money! Better than Bose for a lot less
Wow and amazing is the best way to describe this theater system! Sound is equal to my other Bose theater system but for a lot less money. The features and Smart LG sytem are dynamic and equal to top end theater systems costing 5x as much. The unpacking and speaker assembly took about 30 minutes (read the instructions first). Setup and connectivity went smoothly with the Magic Remote. Wireless rear speakers work great. All this and a 3D Blue-ray is an incredible price!
Great sound, great price
Amazed at the sound! Blue ray and regular DVD upgrading is awesome! The bass is really shattering. Had to turn it down a notch. Living room is 14X20, perfect sound! I need to get some extension cable to put on the rear speakers they're about 6' short. I haven't done any online, hulu, etc. stuff with it as I don't use it. I bought the 3D for future replacement of our TV, will probably go to a 3D set next time.
Impressive unit for the cost
I still prefer my original system as I could pick and choose which speakers, subwoofer, receiver, blu-ray player I wanted. I don't generally buy package type deals. But for the money and what you get this is definitely worth it if you are on a budget or want something for another room without spending big bucks.
I bought this Home Theater System to go with my LG TV. What I like about it is the sound quality and the design. What I don't like is that it is a bit slow to respond. Every time I press a button on the remote, it takes two-three seconds for the system to process it. it syncs up nicely with my LG TV; I use one remote to control all the functions. Overall, It's a good product for its price.
Great System for the Price, Very Good Sound!
Recently got a Sharp 3D LED Smart TV and could no longer stand limiting myself to DVD. I went into my research with quite a few requirements the most important being the speakers needed to be hung using my existing threaded speaker mounts. This is the only sub $300 systems i could find that can be hung using threaded speaker mounts. Unfortunately in Sony's quest to make set up as easy as possible the speaker wires are hard wired to the speakers.
This system works really well in my home. The sound quality is nice and plays both DVDs and Blu-rays nicely. Sometimes there is a long delay in starting the movies (this should be normal, some players take a couple minutes to load), but most of the time it starts right up. I enjoy using this system to watch movies with my little boy.
Great, depending on intended purpose
So, in all it really depends on what you are looking for. If you are an audiophile with cutting edge equipment looking for a sound system, you might be better served by something else. If you're in the market for a nice multi-disc unit that can reliably play your ever-expanding collection of divx videos, and deliver great sound - all without breaking the bank, I would recommend it all the way.
Terrific theater sound experience
I purchased this Sony BDV-T79 as an open box sale on eBay 2 weeks ago after a couple months of extensive research with both Samsung and Panasonic's competing systems priced in the mid to higher ranges of $300-500 as you usually get what you pay for. This is my first BLURAY player as it replaced an older Panasonic DVD player I'd purchased 3 years ago. The Sony BDV-T79 was on display at my local Costco but had very few reviews as this model was just released in the US a few months ago.
