Great System for the Price, Very Good Sound!
Recently got a Sharp 3D LED Smart TV and could no longer stand limiting myself to DVD. I went into my research with quite a few requirements the most important being the speakers needed to be hung using my existing threaded speaker mounts. This is the only sub $300 systems i could find that can be hung using threaded speaker mounts. Unfortunately in Sony's quest to make set up as easy as possible the speaker wires are hard wired to the speakers.
Not as good as a `real' surround sound system, but perfect for spots where you are just using the TV's speakers
If you want a really awesome Dolby 5.1 or 7.1 set-up, look elsewhere (like at a receiver, speakers, and a bunch of cable). If you want an incredible improvement over the speakers that come built into your television, for a really reasonable price, and super easy set-up, than this is the way to go. I highly recommend this sound bar.
Surprisingly rich sound
Got this to augment the sound coming from our 52" LCD TV, which has meager speakers. HD set top box and Blu-ray player connected to the Yamaha with optical toslink cables. For action movies the sound has good punch with the bass remaining tight and manages to fill all corners of a spacious open floor plan living room-kiitchen area. Shows with dialogue emphasis get the "voice" option and this works very well.
Not a great system
I was very unimpressed with this system. While it was triple the prize of my old speakers (which have now come down even more) the sound quality is far worse. The bass, in particular, suffers; with my logitecs I could shake the floor playing Led Zeppelin and with this samsung system I can hardly even hear the bass, despite doing everything possible to turn it up.
Great sound, weak remote control
Hooked into my Samsung with optical cable. WONDERFUL sound. The SRS is just as I remember it from my old Sony XBR. Would have given 5 stars, except for the weak remote control. Very low power. Have already purchased a programable remote to replace it. Would be nice, too, if "line-of-sight" was not required for the sub-woofer. BUT at $200, cannot really complain.
Strong, Space Saving Sound
This Onkyo LS3100 Envision Cinema 2.1 Channel Bluetooth Speaker System in black finish is a terrific 2.1 sound system. Of course, you are not getting full surround sound, but your front speakers and subwoofer are always the most important part of a viewing/listening experience. Indeed, in many tight rooms or homes, a 2.1 is the simplest way to go.
The small receiver device has an optical audio input.
Great Budget Soundbar
It was easy to hook up and as a Radio and Audio engineer, I can say it has decent sound for the price. The remote is easy to use and the led lights on the right had edge let me know what the settings are.
I would definitely recommend this as an inexpensive audio upgrade for most 37 to 40+ inch flat panel televisions.
