Not a great system
I was very unimpressed with this system. While it was triple the prize of my old speakers (which have now come down even more) the sound quality is far worse. The bass, in particular, suffers; with my logitecs I could shake the floor playing Led Zeppelin and with this samsung system I can hardly even hear the bass, despite doing everything possible to turn it up.
When I first saw the speakers, I said, I will ne returning these in the morning. They look small but they sound super clear. The bass is not the best but for the price range it beats all HTIB out there. It does not have any Hdmi in ports, and the speakers need screws or nails to mount on wall. I dont think they are brackets out there for this type. The internet is not wireless you need an adapter from samsung. If you have a small to medium room this will work great.
The system works fine. It is the way you have it set-up! As the earlier poster stated.....You will need to adjust the sound using the remote. There are two buttons on bottom left-hand corner that allows you to do so. One is titled SOUND and the other is EFFECTS. I am getting 5.1 Dolby digital surround sound using a To slink (digital optical cable) connected to my cable box directly into my Blue-ray player.
Alot of punch in a small package
After the easy installation and setup using a microphone for speaker calibration, I was simply amazed. You hear absolutely no distortion from any of the speakers, not even at maximum volume. I have this setup in a fairly large living room and the subwoofer provides hard-hitting clean bass. The only con I have is that the shiny black finish to the system attracts dust quickly. Don't pass up this system. Menu interface is awesome.
Comprehensive feature range
We love the HT-E6500W's hugely generous range of features and its stylish, living room friendly design, while its connections, format support, streaming functionality and Blu-ray picture quality are all up to scratch. And for the most part its sound quality is too, with the valve amp tech lending dynamism and punch, although evidence of brightness (particularly at loud volumes) rains on the parade.
Speakers themselves have no grilles of any kind,
What can I say about the Samsung HT-E6500W Vacuum Tube Home Theater System at a little over $700 retail, other than "Skip it"? I mean it, don't even waste your time or be fooled by its supposed "audiophile sound quality" - there isn't any to be had. I found nothing redeeming about the Samsung HT-E6500W system and, if you're looking to get into home theater, there are better, more affordable ways to do so.
Impressive overall fidelity for an HTIB
Samsung should be commended for raising the bar for HTIB systems. While the HT-E6500W can't be considered a high-end audio system by audiophile standards, it does handily outperform most single-box solutions. If $600 seems a bit pricey for an HTIB, consider the fact that the system includes a Smart Blu-ray player worth at least $150 on its own, and pairs it with a capable, convenient audio solution with the ability to switch between two external HDMI sources.
Looks nice, sounds great
I got this yesterday and was able to get it hooked up easy. the rear cables are just long enough for the rear speakers. front, center and woofer have plenty of wire. i have nothing but samsung tv's so the remote replaced my tv remote out of the box no programing. if you use a optical cable it know's to use that for the audio without any setting changes by you either. less work from me is always better. the wireless is good too.
More Features Than Listed
When I was looking for a reasonably priced Samsung surround system, I wanted to run HDMI to my TV and also have an aux input to play an iPod through. The feature list on the HTE550 did not list all the inputs on the unit for some reason. In a web search, I found a PDF of the system manual and showed FM radio, HDMI, 2 aux inputs, one on the front of the unit for an iPod and one in the rear. Also component input and optical audio as well.
System is easily set up and has good connectivity options, hooked up to satellite reciever and xbox as well as TV. Connected to wireless network easily. Sound quality is better than average, but not spectacular. The wireless rear speakers make installation a breeze, but are somewhat weak in sound delivery. Disappointed that there is not a multiple disk changer, and the single drive is slow loading.
Good value for money
Main points of review: very good blu-ray playback, decent audio quality, unique audio connectors.
It's inexpensive so while the blu-ray playback is great, don't expect Bose audio performance. If you're going to throw ~$200 at a home theater system, this is a good one to buy.
Be warned you won't be able to use older speaker wiring that you (like me) laid under your carpet a few years ago - the jacks are specific to this unit.
