The DHT-1513A surround sound system is better than the other options offered by the local big box stores, and cost less. I bought a new 60" Samsung led lcd tv and the sound was awful. Rear speakers on the tv were inadequate. Anyway, this Denon amp is an intro version for Denon, but pretty good. The Boston speakers are also intro level, but also good. I'm very happy with the cost/value and the overall sound. I found the best price at Amazon, and trust them.
Great quality for the price
After looking at Best Buy, Target, and many other places for a surround sound system I stumbled upon this on at Walmart. At first because of the low price I figured it would be a piece of junk. I went home and looked at the reviews and decided why not give it a try. My first impression was it looked fairly slick for a cheaper system. After hooking it up to my projector and mounting the speakers on the walls I decided to give it a try with good old That 70's Show! I was astounded.
Good home theater
Recent purchase. Have had a sony home theater before and this system pretty much meets the expectations. Areas of concern are noted below:
- Length of speaker cables are less than required (especially for the center and sub woofer). I needed a longer cable since i use a projector and not a TV screen
- Yet to find a file format that can be played using the USB connect (does not seem to read any itunes/ mp3 formats)
- An additional wifi access point is required to connect to internet.
Subwoofer isn't powered, lacks power and punch
The Sony BDV-E280 is one of three 3D-compliant home theater systems (BDV-E780W, BDV-E580, and BDV-E280) released together in early 2011. All three models feature an integrated Blu-ray disc player that can handle 3D and 2D BDs, as well as DVDs, SACDs, and CDs.
Contains every feature we look for in this category
The Sony 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System BDV-E280 stands head and shoulders above many other products in our home theater in a box category. This is no small accomplishment for this system given how many great products it is up against.
Sleek looking easy set up
This surround sound system is one of the highest rated systems on Cnet.com and many others. Its' sleek design, built in wifi, wireless rear speakers and the 2 HDMI inputs on the back, make for an impressive home theater system in a box. 1000 watts is plenty of power for my 20x20 family room. The center channel is strong enough to really bring the verbal audio through clearly without the other speakers overpowering it. The sub woofer is strong, but not overpowering either.
Good Internet app suite
The Sony BDV-E780W is one of three 3D-compliant home theater systems (BDV-E780W, BDV-E580, and BDV-E280) released together in early 2011. The top unit in the series, this 5.1-channel system features two rear wireless speakers, two 2-way front speakers, a central channel, and a subwoofer.
Really Nice Setup With Really Nice Price,
Sony's Bravia line has yet to disappoint me. This home theater in a box is a really nice setup. It doesn't have the flexibility of a high-end receiver like a Denon or Onkyo, but that's not really what a home theater in a box setup is supposed to do. It has one HDMI output, but no HDMI inputs, and only one optical input. If you've got a newer model tv, that's all you need most of the time.
A reasonably priced Surround System
I didn't want to spend more for the audio, than for the TV.
I chose this system as a compromise, and for its value.
It works well, sounds 100% better than my Bravia LED TV speakers,
and fits my basic requirements. It is not without flaws,
such as inability to pass through CC, but that's one of
the compromises. It syncs perfectly with my TV, and so no
problems with remotes, etc. So read all the reviews, to know
what you're getting, and perhaps the BDV-T58 will work for you.
Great for the price
This is a great, compact (for our space, anyway) system that provides big sound for a decent price. Haven't had any problems with it, but there are two issues I've noticed in the week or so that we've had it:
1.) The sound will suddenly drop real low, and then build back up to where it was before. It doesn't happen often, but every hour or so. I'm not sure what causes it, and it isn't a huge deal, but it's still noticeable.
2.) The system itself is really loud.
Amazing Home Theater System
This is a great product and I would highly reccoment it to anyone looking to buy a new home theater system. It was a little expensive but very worth the money.
-The sound is amazing. I no longer have to turn up and down the sound when people are talking or when there is action like I had to do with my old system.
-Set up was very simple. I could have used a little extra wire but it was easy to add some lengh so I could place the speakers where I wanted them in the room.
Enough sound to fill a medium sized living room
The Sony BDV- E580 is one of three 3D-compliant home theater systems (BDV-E780W, BDV-E580, and BDV-E280) released together in early 2011. It builds from the BDV-E280 by adding integrated Wi-Fi and an advanced Media Remote that can control iPhones, iPods, and Android smartphones.
