Impressive unit for the cost
I still prefer my original system as I could pick and choose which speakers, subwoofer, receiver, blu-ray player I wanted. I don't generally buy package type deals. But for the money and what you get this is definitely worth it if you are on a budget or want something for another room without spending big bucks.
When I first saw the speakers, I said, I will ne returning these in the morning. They look small but they sound super clear. The bass is not the best but for the price range it beats all HTIB out there. It does not have any Hdmi in ports, and the speakers need screws or nails to mount on wall. I dont think they are brackets out there for this type. The internet is not wireless you need an adapter from samsung. If you have a small to medium room this will work great.
Good audio quality for movies and music
The SC-HTB520 is not without its flaws, as it certainly hasnâ??t got the broadest array of connections and the small remote is a bit fiddly to use. However, it's very easy to set up - especially if your TV has an HDMI ARC port - and it manages to deliver excellent sound quality, that's both warm and beefy. Add in a stylish design, and you've got one of the better, mid-priced soundbars available right now.
Built-in surround sound processing
Although the SC-HTB520 is an affordable sound bar system, it also lacks features found on Sony's now discontinued HT-CT150 such as better connectivity and an LED display. If those features are important to you, Sony still has more expensive HT-CT350 model available. However, if you can live with the limited connectivity, Panasonic's offering does seem like a good no-frills approach to improve your TV and movie watching experience.
System is easily set up and has good connectivity options, hooked up to satellite reciever and xbox as well as TV. Connected to wireless network easily. Sound quality is better than average, but not spectacular. The wireless rear speakers make installation a breeze, but are somewhat weak in sound delivery. Disappointed that there is not a multiple disk changer, and the single drive is slow loading.
Nice for the price
Great surround sound system. I was surprised about how well the wireless back speakers worked. My experience with past systems always had a delay on the wireless back speakers, but I do not notice any delay or degredation of sound quality for being wireless. The system definitely has a faster load time than my previous Blu-Ray players. I did have a hitch starting Game of Thrones on this player.
Good home theater
Recent purchase. Have had a sony home theater before and this system pretty much meets the expectations. Areas of concern are noted below:
- Length of speaker cables are less than required (especially for the center and sub woofer). I needed a longer cable since i use a projector and not a TV screen
- Yet to find a file format that can be played using the USB connect (does not seem to read any itunes/ mp3 formats)
- An additional wifi access point is required to connect to internet.
Subwoofer isn't powered, lacks power and punch
The Sony BDV-E280 is one of three 3D-compliant home theater systems (BDV-E780W, BDV-E580, and BDV-E280) released together in early 2011. All three models feature an integrated Blu-ray disc player that can handle 3D and 2D BDs, as well as DVDs, SACDs, and CDs.
Contains every feature we look for in this category
The Sony 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System BDV-E280 stands head and shoulders above many other products in our home theater in a box category. This is no small accomplishment for this system given how many great products it is up against.
