An excellent VoIP Phone
Well, this Cisco phone is one of the top model in Cisco business series desk phones, so its no brainier that should work just fine. I have done my homework before purchasing it and I am very pleased with the quality of the calls. The phone is very easy to configure since it has a WEB API to work with. Compare this with 7xxx series of Cisco phone where it is almost impossible to configure the phone without Cisco call manager, this is piece a cake to work with.
Great work phone
The form factor of these phones are both visually appealing and physically comfortable to work with on a daily basis. We are using them for a Ring Central account and the setup was a breeze - even for the non-technical people. I would make one technical recommendation to purchasers: these do not come with a power supply. If you are a medium sized or larger office (not just 1 or 2 people), then I would recommend purchasing a POE switch to power the phones instead of the $15 power brick.
Excellent audio, quality Intuitive to use
The Cisco SPA504G is a very good phone. With HD voice supported, it delivers excellent voice quality in an intuitive and well-made piece of hardware. The OnSIP team is thrilled to see another manufacturer taking steps to bring HD voice to midrange phones that won't cost customers an arm and a leg.
Works nicely for me
The review that gave this phone 1 star because of the PoE issue wasn't reasonable. To be clear - the phone does not come with a power adapter. You will need to buy one separately or use a PoE (Power over Ethernet) injector or switch to power the phone. I don't mind this at all - in some locations, it's easier to power it with PoE, and I appreciate not having to pay for an extra adapter I won't use.
This is not a consumer phone.
Item was not new as offered
The item was previously used but offered as if it were new. To set it up has been a big problem as it is password blocked so new firmware must be downloaded but the version managed by the phone is old so the one available it Cisco right now is not useful. I have not been able set the phone to use it as it should have brought at least the passwords stablished by the previous user/administrator.
Unless the seller confirms firmware pre-installed is 8.5 or higher, the SIP features will not work seamlessly. Phone comes with standard SCCP (cisco proprietary) settings and TFTP upgrade to higher firmware is cumbersome and requires high technical knowledge. Avoid this phone if you plan a hosted or cloud based SIP trunking feature for your business. Beware of sellers who will pawn you old stock phones from their unsold inventory. Ensure phone manufacture dates are May 2012 or later. Good Luck.
Incredibly stable, powerful business tool
I recently oversaw the purchase and installation of Cisco CallManager and Cisco IP telephones. This was my company's first venture into IPT and we did so with both guns blazing, so to speak. Our standard setup is the Cisco IP Phone 7940 series. This phone has proven itself to be rock-solid, stable and powerful. We have experienced 100% uptime with our VoIP telephones and response from users has been terrific.
