Cheap and pretty, and does a perfect job
I just moved to CA from across the ocean, so I had to order a lot of basic household stuff, all at once, so I was going for something very cheap and basic - and this steam iron went far beyond my expectations. I thought it would be quite light weight and I think lighter irons don't do such a good job, but this one is heavier than you would expect.
Whoa! A Steam Iron that really Steams!
Still a great purchase. After reading some of the subsequent reviews about all the leaking and such, I'd have to say perhaps they got a bad version. Other than the occasion spitting, at very predictable circumstances as noted above, I've had nary an issue with this iron. I sincerely hope it continues to last.
Better than many higher priced irons
Over the years, I have spent top dollar for irons of various brand names thinking that they would be of higher quality and perform better. I have only had this iron for a short while, but so far, this fella stands up to the top name brands that cost $100 and above.
Note: The different colors have different options - thanks to several Amazon reviewers for pointing this out - I almost ordered based on my favorite color, and would not have received the iron with the retractable cord.
The T-fal is far superior than my old iron but it heats up quickly. The steam coming out is not as powerful as I would have liked. The price seems low for the features it has. I am unsure of the durability as I have only owned it for 2 months. I like that it has a wider base that it makes it easier to iron and it very stable.
Beautiful iron, nice overall
Got the iron a few days ago. I needed to iron some clothes. So I gave this new Rowenta dw2090 iron a try. The retracting cord had to be depressed a few times for the cord to come out and retract properly. Not what I expected for a $60.00 iron, but then again most of the irons or related items on the market seemed to have this problem. I will try to apply a small coat of sil-glyde on the cord to see if it would help with the retraction.
Ironing is a breeze
So far the iron works good. The only real issue I have with it is that there is not an "off" button/dial. It shuts off automaticly after 8 min. or 2 if you lay it on the side. I end up just unplugging it but would prefer to turn it off first. Also I have noticed I have accidently hit the temperature dial while ironing, turning the temp. up more than desired. Overall the product is good.
Does the steam well
I think I might be lucky. I don't know why other reviewers had issues with this iron, but as long as you start ironing after it becomes hot, there is no issue with the steam. It is heavy, non stick, does the steam well, and overall a very good iron.
My only complaint is that the cable management could have been better, i.e.: many high quality irons have a "trench" that you can roll the cable around, but that's only a minor issue.
