HP and Canon, along with other manufacturers like Brother, Epson and Kodak, have been implementing the latest technology on all their printers, especially their all-in-ones. Due to the shutting down of Kodak's consumer business, they will stop selling inkjets from 2013. Some of the latest printers from Samsung offer cost effective printing through their single-function, entry-level-multifunction and mid-range multifunction printers.

Some of the latest printers from HP have been released under the LaserJet product lines with advanced duplex and network features which are also cost and energy efficient. Along with the new WorkForce series of printers for small and medium businesses.

  • The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M553dn is fast, low-priced, and has output quality good enough to let you print your own marketing materials.

  • This is a big printer for companies with big ideas. It's fast, flexible and delivers stunning prints.

  • Once past its slow startup, the Color LaserJet Enterprise M553x offers top-tier print quality at particularly high speeds. Just don't place your desk in the immediate vicinity, as the fan is just as effective at making noise as it is at cooling the machine.

  • The Epson WorkForce ET-4550 EcoTank All-in-One Printer costs a lot for a personal multifunction printer (MFP), but it comes with all the ink most users will ever need.

  • Based on Epson's new EcoTank ink system, this otherwise low-volume inkjet delivers the lowest CPPs we've seen from any consumer-grade or small-business printer.

  • . To be honest, as these EcoTank printers go, I’m much more impressed with larger one, the WorkForce Pro model, even though I don’t print nearly enough to justify it. If you print 300 or 400 pages each month regularly, and you have the funds, this is a much cheaper way to go over cartridges. For a more detailed review of the ET-4550, click here.

  • A good fit as a personal multifunction printer or for light-duty, shared use in a small office, the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277dw delivers high-quality text and graphics, fast speed, and mobile printing support.

  • If you're looking for a high-quality photo printer then inkjet printers still have the edge there. However, the M277dw provides excellent text quality and business graphics, and will make a good workhorse printer for smaller offices that need to produce high quality business documents.

  • This small and efficient laser all-in-one prints well and quickly, but the cost per page and limited paper handling render this an occasional-use model.

  • The Brother MFC-J5720DW inkjet multifunction printer delivers decent speed and output quality. More importantly, it offers a low running cost and has the ability to print at up to 11 by 17 inches.

  • The Brother MFC-J5270DW has very flexible paper handling facilities and both business and photo features making it a versatile device. We found some problems with the print quality in
duplex copies and had some paper misfeeds. The default photo print mode is also surprisingly slow. These drop-offs can be worked around, though, and otherwise, this is a good business inkjet.

  • Let’s face it, there are a bunch of strong-performing business printers out there; choosing one isn’t easy. The good news is that as long as you keep your eye on the ink cost, most of them, including this MFC-J5720DW, should serve you well.

  • The Epson PictureMate PM-400 Personal Photo Lab prints high-quality photos at up to 5 by 7 inches, but the cost of even 4-by-6 photos is higher than with Epson's 4-by-6 dedicated photo printers.

  • The state of the art in snapshot printing—a niche, granted, between more versatile inkjets and larger photo printers—this cute, costly compact happily churns out handsome 4x6's and 5x7's from a wide variety of devices.

  • - This printer wasn't built for professional photographers.
    - It's a great printer for small images that were taken with large amounts of love.
    - Because the PM-400 isn't industrial strength, you're not getting the fastest print speeds or the highest-quality prints.
    - Wi-Fi is a bit tricker, but still very quick and easy.
    - You'll be hard-pressed to find anything easier to use than the PM-400.
    - In a few hours I was able to set up the PM-400 and relive the first six months of Mila's life.
