An Exceptional Monitor
I had my doubts about this monitor; but for the price and considering all of it's features(and I REALLY like the controls being at the base), I'm quite fond of it.
The picture quality is astounding, I was worried as a gamer that I may notice ghosting(something I tend to pick up on very easily); but there are no such issues. No dead pixels, extremely easy to pull out of the box, put together and hook up.
Excellent image quality
The budget end of the monitor market is suddenly rife with quality 23- to 24-inch 1080p screens with cheap IPS panels in them. You've got to love the fact that you can pick up a full HD screen running one of the best monitor technologies out there for just over a ton. It certainly makes a huge difference compared to the weak, washed-out 24-inch TN panels we were once grateful to pick up for around £200.
The monitor works great easy to use and setup and looks very good. I bought it mostly to play my PS3 and switch to my desktop computer. The monitor supports 2 simultaneous hdmi connections (up to 3 total if you also use the vga connection for a pc) which makes it easy to enjoy the highest settings on my devices. When you stop nit-picking everything and realize that game menus aren't everything, the graphics look great on my games and cpu and above all performance is VERY SMOOTH .
High-class 24in display
The Dell S2440L is constructed to a very high standard, the edge-to-edge glass adding a touch of class to its already very clean minimalist lines. The display itself is capable of impressive performance. It's not the cheapest 24inch display you'll find, but feels well worth the money.
Fairly mediocre performance specs
We recommend this monitor if you're looking for something that's impressive in appearance, beyond the budget bin in style, and is at least passable in its color performance. The attractive design and staggeringly large contrast ratio that the S2440L tested with justify its price, but its color shortcomings make it a bad choice for graphic design or photo editing, and it certainly isn't the best choice for gaming.
Good but not great
I really like this screen and am happy I bought it. These "complaints" should be read more as observations. If HP put out the same product in a smaller form factor I would prefer it, but am in no way displeased with this product. I also expect the driver issue will be resolved shortly--these things usually are. In any event, setup was super easy and the conflict does not really effect system stability. Nor is it much of an annoyance once you know how to deal with it.
Great monitor for the price
OK, so i really think that this is absolutely a great product. other reviews made no justice with it.
but first i need to mention a weak point: this really makes no sense to add a regular analog monitor cable and dismiss the HDMI cable. so you get this great looking monitor and you need to wait until you get to buy a new cable to use it... benq, common ,it is a digital world!
