I have been looking for a good iPod replacement. The iPod is a great music playing device for sure, however, I did not like the way to use iTunes to put and to manage my MP3 files on iPods. I just wanted a MP3 player that can be connected as an external drive and did not need to worry about loosing all my music libraries by synching a MP3 player to a wrong computer accidentally. Then I had a change to have the Creative ZEN X-Fi 3.
Ropey interface and navigation
The Creative Zen X-Fi 3 MP3 player sounds good, goes very loud and comes with an unusually good set of earphones. However, problems with the design and interface hold it back. The touch-sensitive buttons are annoying, screen quality is unimpressive and it's surprisingly thick for a device of its size.
Quality earbuds included
The Creative Zen X-Fi2 is a relatively inexpensive multimedia player released in late 2009. It offers a 3" TFT LCD touchscreen that is expected for modern players released around that time. One nice feature that the multimedia player offers is the built-in speakers which are great for sharing music with friends.
the Zen sounds excellent on its own.
The bottom line: The Creative Zen X-Fi's plastic design leaves a little to be desired, but that doesn't detract from the fact that the player is an incredible value overall: for an extremely competitive price you get a boatload of features and great sound quality.
If you're looking for a cheap MP3 player from a well-known brand, the Creative Mosaic EZ300 is an option. It is not one we would recommend though, with few quantifiable improvements over the earlier ZEN Mosaic and a feature list that looks markedly outdated next to competitors offerings.
