Quite impressive for the price
I bought this because I swim four or five times a week, and doing laps gets pretty boring. I wasn't really expecting much for the price, but I wasn't prepared to spend a lot of money for something that might not work. I was surprised, though, by the overall quality of the MP3 player. I was expecting a plastic case, so the metal housing was very nice to discover.
Great MP3 Player Headset
I have been looking for a waterproof MP3player headset so I could use it on my personal water craft. And when I came across this unit, I had to try it out for the price of $30.
I had high hopes for this thing since the photos show it off very well, especially on the manufacturer's website, and the frequency response of 20-20kHz is pretty good in such a small package. But when the device arrived, I panicked a bit. The packaging is a plain white box with a couple of barcode stickers.
Great improvement on the first generation
I own the previous iteration of this device which is now available for $50. I was so happy with the previous generation that I bought one for my brother and his wife for Christmas. The 1stGen product is great. For anyone who works out and hates headphone cables, it provides hours of music with reasonably thought-out controls.
When I saw that Sony had come out with a new and improved version, I had to have it. So far I have been impressed.
Built-in rechargeable battery
Sony NWZ-W262 2GB Walkman MP3 Player comes with the USB connectivity and the playback supported files are MP3, WMA (Non-DRM), WMA (DRM), AAC-LC, linear PCM. Sony provides a range of accessories which comes along the purchase of this model and they are quick start guide, built-in rechargeable battery, USB cable accessories attachment.
What a Waste of Money!
I waited until the Speedo 2.0 before making my first purchase of an underwater MP3 player, purely based on the fact that I didnt believe that technology had come far enough to provide a decent consumer level product. I was sadly mislead into believing that this was it.
The Aquabeat MP3 player looks pretty nifty, unfortunately though the buttons are not very user friendly, with an absurdly complicated level of buttons to get to the main menu from whatever is playing at the time.
Pretty cool gizmo
This gizmo works great-- completely functional (I've used it about 10 times now). The only thing that isn't perfect about it is that the volume control is really difficult to press. So I have to push it against a counter top to make the volume louder-- my fingers can't get it compressed enough to do that on the fly in the pool, but it's still functional. Other than that, it's waterproof, good sound quality, and working just fine! Total game changer for my swimming.
This product seems to have a potentially good overall design, but the quality control is not there. The biggest problem I've had is the right ear works intermittently, and at times is accompanied by static. Secondly, I had a problem with the main unit becoming partially disconnected from the head phones, which meant only one ear worked, so I was constantly distracted with reconnecting the unit. I remedied this with a rubberband.
I have had this mp3 player for about 3 weeks and it works great. I wish it had a random play option because it will only play in alphabetical order. Other than that it works great the headphone are just ok out of water but in the water they are top notch. The battery life is as advertised and I am still able to dive into the 15ft deep end of the pool I do laps in. The armband has to be replaced because it doesn't fit my arm but thats a common problem for me.
Not really that waterproof
I bought this item because i enjoy swimming on a regular basis and this mp3 player seemed to get pretty good reviews. It arrived after about 2 weeks so it didn't take too long, but i still would have liked it sooner. The waterproof headphones that came with it worked alright, sometimes water would get in and the sound was a bit muffled, but overall the headphones weren't bad. The real problem was the mp3 player itself, I used it for about 2 or 3 weeks, swimming once a day 5 times a week.
Mine failed the very first time I used it!
I spent hours looking and reading reviews for this MP3 player, first of all i didn't find as many reviews as I would have liked... I took my chances and bought it. I was very excited about what this product offered, I received it 2 days ago, read carefully the manual (which consists on a single page) and put it on the test yesterday (on a swimming pool... which is a much less hostile situation than the scenarios on which the product is supposed to work on -like surfing or kayaking-),...
