I've had this laptop for about 2-3 weeks now, and all is good so far. Only time will tell about the long-term quality and reliability of the internal components. My primary usage pattern for a laptop is internet access, MS Office apps, and playback of iTunes music and video. For this, the unit is plenty sufficient. But note that this unit is not built for high quality audio and video.
But even so, its strong underlying performance makes the laptop worth considering for general-use, midrange buyers.
The Samsung Q430 skimps on the display and ports, but strong performance and battery life do much to offset that problem. The Samsung Q430 skimps on the display and ports, but strong performance and battery life do much to offset that problem. Gateway finally racks up some style points with this mainstream laptop, which also delivers good performance. The Asus N82Jv has good graphics, a nice screen, and a USB 3.0 port. If only it weren't so heavy.
We can't find anything that's really wrong with the Samsung Q430. Some aspects of it are bog-standard, such as the trackpad and the port selection, but otherwise it's an impressive machine, and buying one won't cost you the Earth. Overall, then, it's ace.
If you want a machine that's more portable, check out the smaller but similarly excellent Samsung Q330. Bear in mind, however, that the Q330 doesn't offer great graphical performance.
