Truly not bad
This is a convenient little laptop. The 320GB of space is fine for me. However, 1GB of RAM just barely makes the cut these days.
Naturally, I'm on the internet with three tabs open, and playing music on iTunes. Other times I'm running sophisticated music software, exporting large files, and jumping back and forth between necessary programs.
OK netbook BUT not so good for WiFi
I needed something small for travel and didn't want a big laptop to be my whole carry on. I thought about some of the 'Pads, but didn't want to spend that much for web surfing, email, a little shopping and maybe some spreadsheets or documents. I bought one of these with a free upgrade to Windows 8 "Professional". Well it wasn't free, it was $15, but still not a bad deal. Anyway this worked great on a trip, I was able to use the hotel WiFi just fine.
Large Hard Drive For Price Point
Gateway takes their NV series of laptops and gives them an even more affordable makeover with the NE56R12u which can typically be found for under $400. The system is certainly affordable and is sufficient for many that just need basic computer needs. Heck, it has the same memory, hard drive size and battery life as system that cost nearly twice as much. It does sacrifice other conveniences such as a comfortable keyboard or USB 3.0 ports and packs in a fair amount of unnecessary software.
Best under $400
This laptop offers the best bang for your buck. I am extremely rough on my laptops, and tend to replace them yearly: why I no longer purchase expensive units. The system has a windows base score of 4.6. Higher than other similarly priced, or even more expensive machines. The low score is due to the graphics component. This computer is NOT designed for gaming. The processor is similar to an Intel I-3, in fact it is slightly faster in clockspeed.
Good, basic, laptop
I've had this computer for a few months now and I don't have any major complaints. The gaming graphics could be a faster, but I'm not disappointed. It runs fast and smooth so all you need to do is maintain your computer. The Resolution is pretty crappy, but you won't notice it if you're not thinking about it; everything fits on the screen nicely. This is a mid-range, average laptop. This is a good computer for a good price. I'm happy with it.
Inexpensive price, Comfortable keyboard
The Gateway NV57H54u is a 15.6-inch powerhouse laptop that offers great performance, a comfortable keyboard and long battery life all without a high price. It does suffer from a mildly dim display and some touchpad issues, but other than that, it's a solid buy.
Core i3 processor will get you through day-to-day tasks
The Gateway NV77H05u budget laptop will get you through email, Web pages, and the occasional extraneous task, just so long as it isn't high-end gaming. But you're limiting yourself to a laptop with fewer features and less horsepower than the competition.
High Resolution Display On Par With More Expensive Laptops
Gateway;s NV77H05u will appeal greatly to a very specific segment of buyers. That would be those looking to get a low cost laptop that features a larger screen with a higher resolution. At $600, it is very affordable and offers some surprising features including 6GB of memory and a USB 3.0 port. This is great for those that don't need high performance or 3D graphics.
