Excellent speed, Crisp output, Duplex printing, A variety of connectivity options
Other than the Eco mode, which Samsung claims can save up to 20 percent in paper and toner costs, there isn't anything all that special about the M2825DW. But that's OK. Just because it doesn't play music or make snow cones, doesn't make it a bad printer. If you want lots of bells and whistles, you should look at multifunction printers.
Easy maintenance, Well-designed controls
Although we are a bit concerned with the running costs of this machine, Dell's B1164nfw is a versatile MFP for small and home office, covering all the business essentials and producing good quality print, reasonably quickly. Shame there's no cover for its paper tray, though, which may mean you need to close it up between print jobs.
Print quality, Lifetime fuser guarantee
I was impressed with the Dell B1165nfw because it is compact, easy to use and offers small offices and home offices basic business features at a low initial cost and, possibly more important, offers a low cost per page over the long term.
Is the B1165nfw perfect? No. I'd really like to see automatic duplexing, a front side USB port, and a larger paper drawer.
But for a home office or small office (think 1-9 users) looking for an efficient, reliable device, the B1165nfw is a great option.
Centrally mounted control panel is fairly easy to grasp
The Dell isn't the best choice for top-speed high-quality text, but it still fares reasonably well in these areas. More crucially, it offers some very impressive paper handling for the money. If you need a cheap but robust page-churner to serve a number of systems in a small or medium office, this is a fantastic option.
Fast and extremely effective
The Brother HL-2130 isn't rich in features, and its ability to print graphics is limited. However, if you're after a straightforward text-churner, the Brother is fast and extremely effective. Given that it's available on the street for not much more than £80, that makes it a very impressive deal.
Linux driver link from setup app
This is a well conceived, entry-level mono laser printer for use in a small or home office. It's quick and quiet and produces good quality print, though it's not the cheapest of its peers to run. As much at home connected to a Windows, OS X or Linux machine, it pretty much does what it says on the box and at a very reasonable price.
Quickly printing high quality documents with first page out
Setup was fast and simple with the HP Smart Install, which required no CD, and network connectivity via Ethernet. The built-in USB allows printer connectivity to a single computer or USB flash drive. This bundle of performance and efficiency comes as a hefty weight, 52.7 lb., and price, $899.99. The hp.com website is currently advertising free shipping and an instant $100 discount, reducing the price to $799.99. The weight and price are typical for printers in this category.
No duplex scanning support for the ADF, Pricey toner
You buy a monochrome laser for speed and great text. The B1265dfw delivers both, albeit not as cheaply as one would wish. If you do the math, the total cost of operation will probably work out for small-volume copying and printing. The question you should ask is whether you might not be better off with a full-featured, $300 color inkjet MFP like the Epson WorkForce Pro WP-4540, which provides decent speed and impressive print quality, with far superior graphics and a significantly cheaper...
Wireless direct print from mobile devices
The Dell B1265dfw is a solid SOHO all-in-one which prints quickly from a variety of sources, produces good quality prints, is easy to use and doesn't cost the earth to run. Having said that, there are cheaper all-in-ones to run, if that's a key factor in your purchase decision.
Good quality black print, Useful eco-driver options
The SCX-3405W is a good, versatile, mono laser all-in-one, where Samsung has obviously worked hard to provide an enhanced set of eco-facilities in what is still a very low cost machine. The provision of wireless connection and direct print from phones and tablets is also unusual in a budget laser device, though more and more manufacturers are looking at providing these.
WPS connectivity, scan, ID Copy
While I would tend to go for a colour unit when combining a printer with a scanner, I can see the Samsung SCX-3405W performing a useful function in a small office or home environment. Currently this model is being advertised on the Samsung website with a price set at £149.95. A replacement toner cartridge will set you back in the region of £42.40 but this does give you up to 1500-sheet capacity.
MobilePrint app prints directly off mobile devices
This model is suitable for consumers looking for a basic, compact, multifunction mono laser printer. An eco-friendly device, it offers a mode for saving paper and toner. The Wi-Fi function makes the SCX-3405W easy to share within a team of colleagues and enables it to print via mobile devices.
