Low Cost to Run
The LG WM2250CW is a mid tier washing machine. After all the test results came in, we didn't feel impressed or disappointed. The washing performance was less than average given the price point. When it first came out, had an MSRP of $799, but we were able see units available for as low as $717. However, the WM2250CW makes up for this shortfall by being slightly ahead of the pack in efficiency.
Very easily goes out of balance during spin cycle
I bought this washing machine from Home Depot 3 months ago. At first, the washing machine was very quiet and operated without any problems and just in the last 3 weeks I have been having trouble with it going out of balance during the rapid spin cycle. Sometimes I have to re-arrange the laundry several times before it can finish spinning. I would not recommend leaving this washing machine unattended because of it going out of balance.
15 different wash settings and 5 water levels
Wash your way with this GE topload washer. Its dual-action agitator makes for easy loading and a gentle yet efficient wash. And you can choose from 15 different wash settings and 5 water levels that is the perfect combination for each load. It even offers a Power Rinse option that removes the dirty water so you can be confident that your clothes are truly clean.
Basic, straightforward washer
The GE GTWN2800DWW is one of the last old-style top-load washing machines that has a center agitator and lets users select the exact water level, temperature and length for each cycle (instead of setting everything automatically). This is a basic, straightforward washer with none of the fancy settings of the modern, high-efficiency machines. It has simple dial controls; automatic bleach and fabric softener dispensers; and a spin speed of up to 630 rpm.
Newer Dumber Technology
These new washing machines are a consumers worst nightmare due to the drastic changes manufacturers have made. The worst is that you cannot lift the lid for any reason, to do so causes the machine to stop. Forget the days of watching the agitator in action. Is it working, who knows? Maybe if they put a glass or even plexiglass window on the lid so you could look in to see if it's working would make it a more tolerable experience.
Very good budget selection
The GE GTWP1800DWW is primarily carried by Best Buy stores, and is one of their lowest priced in-store washers. It's easy to order, and retails at $479.99 (but often is on sale for much less). It comes with 3.7 cu. ft. and 12 wash cycles, but performs a little poorer in energy efficiency. Saving money in the long term is not something this GE is designed for, but it will take a pretty big chunk off the purchase price.
Noisy, tinny and leaves clothes surprisingly wet
We probably wouldn't have picked this model but it came included with our new Centex home. We have been using it for a month now. It replaced our 10yr old Whirpool HE Calypso model which was much quieter. We are amazed at how noisy this machine is. It seems to do an acceptable job cleaning, but it takes a long time to do a load of wash and the locking lid is a REAL pain in the you-know-what.
Dryer died after 10 months
The dryer side of this washer dryer combo died after 10 months. The service man they sent didn't have any parts but got it working. 2 months later, the dryer stopped again... unfortunately out of warranty. Not going to fight for a week (again) to get service out.
I'll be staying away from the Haier brand and looking for a better quality washer/dryer combo.
Unreliable electronic JUNK and horrible service
After having an ancient Maytag work-horse finally die after more than 30 years of loyal trouble-free service, I assumed that a new eco-friendly Maytag would be fantastic. How wrong I was! This is the worst washing machine I have ever experienced. It is a piece of junk! I can't imagine that Maytag is not ashamed to put its name on a machine that is so bad.
Noise reduction technology
Maytag MVWC400XW is an excellent model to serve the needs of those looking for a top-loading washer that still carries the feel of models gone by. For the most part, customers looking for a top-loader feel compelled towards them either because of space, or simply because they have grown up with and enjoyed the style their whole lives. For the latter, they will find the Maytag MVWC400XW an updated version of the classic, while still maintaining an old-fashioned feel.
Regular settings use much less water
I'm happy to see modern microprocessor technology applied to the very old problem of washing clothes. The Maytag MVWC400XW does a good job of washing, and at the same time, costs very little money to run.
I suspect that the poor product reviews are due to people not selecting the right cycle type or not pre-washing stains by hand. I'm satisfied with my purchase of the Maytag MVWC400XW.
