The Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet is an excellent piece of kit: it’s quick, powerful, effortlessly good-looking and incredibly light.

The Galaxy Tab S 10.5 ($499, 16GB) pours the S5 equation into the best Android media tablet we've seen so far.

The Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 isn't a tablet that will instill gadget lust the way an iPad Air might, but a good screen and reasonable size make it a solid option.

Sony's slate is clearly capable of trading blows with Samsung's oeuvre, though that Quadrant score seems anomalously low.

It's a suitable slate for media playback and casual app use, and works beautifully as a second screen for Android smartphone users.
