  • Designed as an inkjet multifunction printer primarily for home use, the HP Envy 5540 All-in-One Printer can print, scan, copy, print through the cloud, and print directly from mobile devices.

  • The Envy 5540 is good value for people who need to produce a lot of colour documents or photo prints, and provides good quality for such a low-cost printer. However, simple mono text documents remain relatively expensive and there are cheaper options available if you need to print a lot of mono documents on a regular basis.

  • This inexpensive, light-duty color inkjet churns out excellent-looking prints, scans, and copies—and, if you commit to Instant Ink, does so at a reasonable cost per page.

  • The HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer offers office-centric features, including faxing and an automatic document feeder, in an inkjet multifunction printer suitable for a home office.

  • This entry-level Officejet prints, scans, and copies well, and with Instant Ink, inexpensively. It’s a good value if you can tolerate its exceptionally slow print speeds.

  • I didn’t care much for these little printers because they cost too much use, but HP’s Instant Ink addresses that one huge shortcoming, well.

  • Meant for home use, the HP Envy 4520 inkjet multifunction printer delivers higher quality for photos and graphics than for text, along with faster printing for photos than for business applications.

  • This entry-level inkjet delivers sharp, well-defined output—and, with an Instant Ink subscription, does so inexpensively. It’s a handy little AIO for modest printing needs if you can tolerate the sluggish print speeds.

  • The thing is that these Envy models have been good personal or family printers all along, as long as you don’t try to print too much. This is, after all, a low-volume printer. If that’s what you need, this is a pretty good one.

  • Whether you need a shared inkjet printer for a micro office, a personal printer for any size office, or a dual home and home and home-office printer, the HP Officejet Pro 6230 ePrinter can be a good fit.

  • This is a quick printer for the money, delivering 25 pages of black text at 17.6 pages per minute (ppm) and 24 pages of colour graphics at a slightly less impressive 4.4ppm. It was less competitive when duplexing, needing three and three-quarter minutes to print 10 sides on five sheets of A4 - the results were noticeably fainter than with one-sided prints. Otherwise, print quality was very good, with sharp black text and vice-free colour graphics.

  • Meant primarily for home use, the HP Envy 5640 e-All-in-One inkjet multifunction printer can scan, copy, print through the cloud, and print directly from phones and tablets.

  • The 5640 looks brilliant, and has some very nice features. Its performance, though, doesn't quite match up to the exterior. Compared to the cheaper Canons, its output isn't quite as glorious, and its running costs marginally higher. It's a beautifully turned-out device, but it falls short of inspiring true envy.

  • Replacing the excellent was never going to be an easy task, but the HP Envy 5640 hasn't done a bad job at all. It's even managed to address some of its predecessor's faults. Offering all-round performance and an overall better print quality, the new HP Envy has straight away become our favourite printer.
