An incremental update to the Ice Cream Sandwich version has been released in June 2012 as Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. It is the latest version for smartphones and tablets, occupying 3% version share among all the mobile devices using the Android mobile OS. A recent Jelly Bean update, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, has been introduced in November 2012. Jelly Bean certainly arrives with a lot of new features, but this might not be acknowledged as a major revision to the previous Android version.
Addressed commonly as "Project Butter", Jelly Bean has worked on a deal providing "buttery-smooth" operative updates for faster processing, fluid and responsive Google Chrome mobile browser interaction, calendar, call logs, and contacts. The user-interface of Project Butter uses touch anticipation, triple buffering, extended VSync timing and a fixed frame rate of 60 fps for slick operations of home screen navigation and application switching. The screen touch responses control the instant CPU's speed boosting up process, aiding in improved battery life.
Improved voice search, audio chaining (gapless playback), offline voice dictation, multichannel audio, higher-resolution contact photos, expandable notifications and widgets, bidirectional text and other language support can be grouped under the minor updates' list.
The latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean has a still more refined and refreshed user interface along with faster, smoother, more responsive performance improvements. The camera applications with 4.2 Photo Sphere for capturing photos in panorama mode and keyboard with gesture typing are some of its major highlights.
